Arizona Chickens

WOW i want to learn more about your 2 austra-whites how old are they now.??how are they doing in the heat..? they seem very kool let us all know more..!!!

They were born on July 17, so they are now 3 months old. They were very active when it was still hot from the summer, not just laying around. They are more gutsy than the Australorps. When you go in to feed them, they will fly up trying to get to the food that you are bringing in. Once the food is on the ground, they are more interested in your shoe strings than the food? Anyway's anyone that wants them, can have them.

hahaha thats a total hoot....lol..love it ..lol.. they like your shoe laces....lol.... maybe try the austra whites with some NN just to see what turns out..! it could be interesting..? ;) :thumbsup

No, because of the leghorn being half of the mix into the Austra-whites, they won't even get as big as the Australorps. I really don't have any use for those 2, and my next door neighbor didn't want them, because they are still trying to get stuff done after that fire that they had.

maybe they might make larger size birds then they are..? being bred with the NN..? that could help..?

o golly i have white birds who act like that ,not fun but i have gotten them to stop with the jumping up at the food i am carrying and also i dont were shoes with laces just slip on's...lol... i might be interested in taking them off your hands, but cant get a ride over your way, its the same old problem, i have been having ,no one wants to drive that far round trip..? i wish there was an animal transportation co.so we could ship our birds around this state to their new owners , or even other states as well, that might be a good business i would think , like ooober rides for chickens = cant sell that HA ....lol..:D :p

Maybe, but I'm not interested in going that way with them. As they are, they are supposed to be a good egg layer with the combined cross-breed in them. They should end up being a little bit bigger than the straight leghorns, but still smaller than my Australorps. Some people like the smaller breeds that are good egg layers though.

exactly & the best are the ones who dont eat that much feed, but still lay a lot of eggs,

I saw that the Austra-Whites are "New" on My Pet Chicken. They are a cross of an Australorp Roo over a Leghorn hen. They're supposedly calmer than a regular Leghorn hen. I wonder what the opposite cross would yield with a Leghorn Roo over a Black Australorp hen?

I think that genetics and cross breeding are very interesting, involving a lot or research and study. There are so many things you can do with chickens and the results can be amazing, or maybe not. I admire the people that have the time for this endeavor and show their results. Just think of all the possible crosses out there, not necessarily recognized by the APA, but still interesting just the same.
