That is awful! I have no idea, but in another thread someone said:

"If he is very old, he may have an age related problem (organ failure, joint problems ect), if he is less than a year- you may be looking at early signs of Marek's. He could also be anemic from lice, or internal parasites. Looking at a photo of his poop is probably not useful, but taking a sample to a vet's for a parasite check might be..."

https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=18418 in this thread someone mentions it could be botulism, and someone else suggested a mineral or nutrition deficiency.

Good luck!

Could be Mareks or moldy feed. I would cull her and put her out of her misery.

ETA: I had a 17 week old BWA roo that was that way a few weeks ago. I almost killed him to stop the suffering, but them I gave him some good quality, high protein feed and he's almost back to 100% although much smaller than his hatch mates. If you are going to keep her, isolate her, give her plenty of electrolytes-- ample water and high quality protein feed and see what happens.

It's going to be MISERABLE heat indexes (110 to 115) the next few days through Thursday at least.

First do a molassas or epsom salts flush to rid her body of toxins, then on to the high quality feed.

I had chicks hatch this morning. I guess I can't count very well. I woke up to my husband saying there is a chick in the incubator. It was down at the bottom, nearly in the water pan and one stuck between two shelves. I was very surprised to see them. This is how I know I am NOT getting adequate sleep. One is a silkie and the other is a SLW. I have two more silkie eggs and another SLW. I don't even remember these eggs or putting them in. The kids deny it too. This is the first silkie out of one of my hens and a rooster. Any its NOT WHITE!!!¥Whoo hoo!

I was surprised, too, to be honest. I had good money on the Production Red and the EE's to be the top layers, but the silkie and the spitzhauben are real champs!

Meanwhile the EE's show no intention of laying anything. Maybe when it's no longer one-hundred-and-kill-me-now degrees outside

Have you checked her for bugs? I noticed one of my chicks was walking funny, yesterday. I looked her over and didn't really see anything ( I didn't have my contacts or glasses on), but when I picked her up again and rechecked her, I found some teeny tiny bugs around her vent. I dusted her and brought her in the house in a carrier, gave her vitamin/electrolyte water, hard boiled egg and her chick feed. I will check on her tonight after we dust all of our birds, pens and perches. I noticed some of the other chicks (3 1/2 mos) had those teeny tiny bugs, too.

We had a bout with mites a couple of years ago. I didn't know about the mites until one of my DS showbirds was walking on his hocks, he was so weak. It turns out we had both chicken mites (on the birds), and roost mites ( in the wood of the pens). Found out Sevin 5% dust works great on the birds and killing the bugs, but not so well on the pens. Ended up using permethrin to dust the pens and perches. It took us 3 weeks to get rid of those suckers, lol.

Our pen is enclosed with 6 ft walls and chicken wire, but sometimes a dove will find it's way in the pen and not be able to get out. I'm thinking that's where the bugs came from. We had to get a couple of them out of the pen a couple of weeks ago.

Good luck!
Angie

All the poorly scheduled chicks hatched. There is 2 Silkies (white & partridge), a very interesting easter Egger and two SLW. I had to hatch the Silkies. They were shrink wrapped from opening the door and fishing the chicks away from the water and out of the back shelves.

We need rain. Its too miserable. Thankfully this can't go on much longer.

Are you certain? 112 is supposed to be the high today... that's 100 feet in the air above Sky Harbor. Add at least 3 degrees to that for the rest of us. Dewpoint at 1AM is 66 degrees with 38% humidity... and it's down to 89 out there at present, I don't see any relief in sight. My pool feels like a bowl of warm soup.

My neighbors wife is not happy with the smells from our backyard. Either I turn on the sprinklers to cool them down or they die, but the sprinklers mixed with poo smell is NOT good. At 5:30 I'll go out and spread some DE.
DW says I need to get rid of the Marans. And they are the only one's laying right now. If you see them on CL you'll know who is selling them.

If money wasn't so tight, I would have taken them off your hands.

Well we went to vote, and it was absolutely horrible out there. The sky was all dark, and to me it looked like tornado weather. Of course, I didn't say so to my wife. She is such a fraidy cat some times.

Only 34 people had voted so far, and that was at 5:30, and that included the five from my clan. I guess there just isn't much interest.

Of course, the illegals don't vote, so that might be part of it.

The clouds rumbled and rumbled, but not a drop of rain.

This is day 22 of my diet, and I would kill for a piece of toast.

Yesterday I woke up feeling awful. I couldn't see for beans. My wife gave me a glucose tablet and a glass of orange juice, In a few minutes, I was better, and I could see. My blood sugar was at 62; I think 60 is the dead point.

The emergency Butterfinger was found to be missing. I suspect my granddaughter. She has a real sweet tooth. If only she knew what was in store for her.
