Tucson Tofu, the roo of course is a Blue Wheaten Ameraucana, the pullet is a polish cross, WC blue roo over a Bearded Buff laced hen. Should be a fun mix... this will be her first baby... can't wait to see pics.

Not even any signs of hatching. Do tiny eggs hatch faster?

The little chick is out of the egg now, it is black with a hint of white on the ends of the wings.

Aww all this talk about cute baby chicks hatching has me all giddy now. Thank you for the cheer up, haha.

And thank you Tucson Tofu. Things are starting to look up again. My SIL is a real estate agent and taking us to look at houses on Saturday. I broke down several times today in between late rent fees ($35 because we can't pay until tomorrow instead of paying on the first, shame on us!) and realizing we won't have enough saved for a home down payment when we expected. So my big bro the attorney is going to enlighten our landlords because what they are doing is actually not in compliance with our lease agreement, and I have come to realize one of the houses we will be looking at can accept a USDA loan which we will only have to have a very small down payment, if any, and matches perfectly with how much of a loan we would qualify for. In addition to that wonderful news, the house is top on our list because it is the closest to my husband's work and has the largest lot. Plus it's a short sale so while that's taking a while to actually go through, it gives us extra time to save whatever else we need to close. Win-Win-Win-Win-Win.

So, anyone have a cure for adrenals that feel like they've been shot all to heck?

PS. I love everyone here at BYC. You are all so amazingly friendly and helpful and positive. I can't help but feel better after all the good vibes from this forum. It is really uncommon for the internet, and I love it.

Oooh congratulations!

As for the adrenals, I'd recommend wine... but, based on your last paragraph, you've already been hitting it

Kidding, kidding. ;-)

Wine or tea AND a bubble bath AND chocolate. :)

It is a beautiful night tonight! Nice and cool, and only a few mosquitoes ;-)

The little chick is still alive and looks dryer. It'll be fine

The other eggs still look like solid eggs. Maybe tomorrow? They were put under the chickens on a Saturday night... so... they aren't really "due" until Sunday. I think.

I'm still wrapping my mind around what it is a mix of. I've had too long of a day to think about anything, but that sounds awesome! Now that the chick is dry I think she is black or gray, but I take back what I said about the hint of white. I really hope she has funny "hair" when she grows up!

I'm going to let them be until tomorrow, the silkies are losing patience and starting to peck me when I poke at them.

Pull the baby out quickly and put in a brooder but keep that humidity at 65%.

You are right the polish hatched on day 18-19.. maybe cuz the egg was so much smaller??

My husband stole our camera and won't be home for a few days, so here is some cell phone photogrpahy:

This one shows the color better than the first one, even though it is blurrier.

Mahonri: The "brooder" is 2 silkies! I'll tell them to keep the humidity at 65% though

I really really hope the other eggs hatch before they get up with this little chick.

The other eggs are still boring eggs

Half are in a friend's incubator. I'll give her a call later and see how those are doing. I was doubtful the silkies would be able to hatch anything in this heat!

I popped the divider out of the nest boxes so it is one big nest, and put some chicken wire over the front so the chick can't fall out. I didn't think about my poor Easter Egger, who is being very vocal about not being able to get into the box and to the silkie's food. It is the same darn food that is in the big food bowl! She is such a ham!

I wonder where she'll lay? Bah, I fail at planning things sometimes.

That reminds me. She needs a name, and so does the little chick.

Here's the EE:
