Arizona Chickens

I saw this genetics chart and now I can't find it. It sounded like a blue wheaten x a blue wheaten had a certain percentage chance of making another blue wheaten, or it could be a wheaten, or something else. Do you know, Mahonri? I'm super excited!

Wheaten X Wheaten = 100% Wheaten
Wheaten X Blue Wheaten = 50% Wheaten & 50 % Blue Wheaten
Blue Wheaten X Blue Wheaten = 25% Wheaten 50% Blue Wheaten 25% Splash Wheaten
Blue Wheaten X Splash Wheaten = 50% Blue Wheaten 50% Splash Wheaten
Splash Wheaten X Splash Wheaten = 100% Splash Wheaten

In my coop I have the two Blue Wheaten Roos... one isn't doing his job yet.
I have 18 pullets... 7 are blue wheaten 11 are wheaten... so you can figure out your chances.

With all of the hatches I've done with a Blue Wheaten Roo, I have yet to get a Splash Wheaten.

Here is the mama of your polish mix.

At present I have him in with his half sister. (Your babie's mama) and his mother... a Bearded Buff Laced Polish...

I'll get 3/4s polish with a slight possibility of a blue egg laying gene.. I also have a Wheaten pullet in with him. just for fun.

Wow... one more post....

Anyone in Central AZ have Muscovy ducks they want to sell? My hens won't eat ants, and I hear that Muscovies will eat all bugs. Most of the online hatcheries seem to be out of them, or just have Whites.... or order minimum is 15.

The little chick that wasn't hatching well didn't make it, but the little polish mix is doing good. :)

One of the Mahorni Wheaten eggs is starting to hatch in my friend's incubator, but nothing from the other eggs yet. Since my little polish mix is already up and running... and the other eggs haven't hatched yet... I think I'll leave them with my friend to add to her flock. At this rate, they'll be way younger than the polish mix by the time they hatch. I can always get eggs again the next time I have a broody.

I'll keep you updated on them, Mahonri!

I didn't want the little polish mix to be all alone, so I bought some day old chicks so she'd have friends. 1 naked neck, 1 cuckoo maran, 1 red polish, and 2 blue polish!

They are gold polish, not reds. And don't be surprised if that cuckoo maran doesn't bar and magically turns into a blue Andalusian...and the sexing....I'm not even going to go there. *sigh* :-/

Does anybody else do the Bountiful Basket thing? I got one today with a bonus asian pack and I am excited about cooking something different ... and also scared because when I cook with a recipe = great, but when I make something up = potentially terrible.

So I was wondering if anyone else had gotten it and knew what to do
