OMG! She's GORGEOUS!!!! Now you're making me want to get chicks from @BlueBaby ...you know...because nearly 100 chickens just isn't enough.

My babies from my last hatch are getting so BIG!!!! Most of these chicks are very friendly and confident. Then again....most of them are cockerels. Of the six Lavender Australorps I hatched, only two are pullets. The four Swedish Flower Hens are 50/50, and the six Alohas gave me two definite pullets and one I haven't been able to sex yet.

Just an update over here. That Crested Cream Legbar pullet chick that hatched out about a week ago now has some company. I had a mixed nn/Australorp chick hatch out yesterday. It looks black with a few patches of reddish brown in the face and head. It's cute though. I'm still waiting on more eggs to hatch.

Did you take them out somewhere away from the house and plop them on the ground to see if there was some type of development? Being nosy, I'd like to know what was in them.

I actually tried putting them in a bag and it had a hole in it. They broke open on the kitchen floor. I was afraid it would stink for weeks. Fortunately there was no smell. Of course I had to poke around. All three had a little development. One I imagine was a chick in very early stage of development. The fourth egg was cracked open and eaten before I pulled them out.

You will be able to see how mine is built in real close-up to see the detail when you come here to pick up your 2 chicks after they hatch out. Actually, since you're just about down the street from me, you would be able to come and look at mine anytime.

I got a jumbo egg today. It weighed 2.96 ounces! I'm anxious to see if it is a double yolker. I'm not sure what the fuss is over them, but I want to see one! Have to wait till my husband comes home to find out.
