Arizona Chickens

Tweak it to what works best for you. I'm a Food Network junkie and have dozens of cookbooks. What I realized was that different parts of countries have different foods, depending on region i.e., Northern Italy is different from Southern Italy.

Very true! Even here in the states, the food can be done a bit different according to which area that you live in. Me, most of the time I just make what tastes good to me, because I have lived in different states before in the past.

Yeppers, just like BBQ in different parts of the country...dry rub vs wet rub, vinegar-based vs tomato based. There is no right or wrong way to any particular formula you use for your situation.

The Chinese take out may have some extra herbs and spices that folks may not catch like fish oil, sesame oil etc. Maybe go online and look up those particular recipes.

The take out version was noticeably thicker, which to me, says more corn starch. But @Bobby Basham you're right, there are so many tiny flavors and nuances that I need to research. Guys it's still raining at my place! This is wild. I'm so glad the alfalfa is out, it would have turned into straw poop soup. Lol while we're on the topic of soup!

We only got that little bit of rain here. Today we had tiny pellets of hail for about an hour. That's crazy since it was 80 last week!

I got the mama hen and her chicks outside yesterday. I had to move some things around and butcher a couple of roos. She was so happy to be back outside. She was actually purring! She was so happy taking her dust bath. The chicks were looking like mom's gone crazy! I took a little slice of English cucumber to them. It was so cute seeing her call them over and cut little pieces up for them. I was worried they might not be able to climb the ramp to go into the roost area. They walked up and down like champs! It's amazing how they take care of the chicks. I've read about it, but seeing her do it is incredible. I could watch them all day!

@Jadesun6 how sweet! The chickies were probably wondering exactly what a dirt bath is and why the heck mama is throwing sand around :p I could watch them all day long.
They were! She was on her back flinging sand at them. They were in the corner chattering away. It looked like they were having a serious conversation about her! I think she forgot about them for a few minutes while she was bathing. She was like kids, what kids? The rest of the flock ran over to see the new arrivals. I was surprised the chicks weren't afraid of them. It was cute they were peering through the fence at the chicks, like a a maternity ward. I should have taken a picture.

Morning all. Wear your jackets today, it's not supposed to get above 60*

@BlueBaby. @cactusrota the pullets are all laying now. Someone is laying a pinkish egg but not sure who. They're all roosting with the big girls too.

@SonoranChick egg drop soup is a staple in my house in the colder months. Love it with potstickers and a small salad.

Sweet! So the two that I held back from that hatching should be laying any time now, then. They're the only ones I haven't caught in the nests yet.

Green steak pozole is the best soup hands down, and the chickens can munch a little on extra hominy too
