Arizona Chickens

:thumbsup If you aren't able to find any locally, mine came from MyPetChicken.com and I would recommend them. They do tiny orders (3 chicks minimum I think) if that's what you need. I received wonderful service...my chicks arrived healthy, all survived, and they were sexed 100% correctly. You may want check their website to see if they have any in stock as an idea.

For safety reasons, orders shipped between February 20 and March 26 require a minimum 15 chick order.

@BlueBaby Little pic update on the Aussies. As you can see they are growing. I expect they will begin laying the end of March or so. The first pic is Gracie Lee (Blue) - isn't she a beauty! She is so very funny - jumps at anything BUT she does chase the doves away - its a riot to watch!! She knows my voice and always comes a running - I love when chickens run hell bent for treats!
The next is Pearl Jam - she is really a beauty. So laid back and is mingling better with the other girls. She still stays by her sister's side though - they are pretty much together all the time.
The last one is both together - usually how I find them. Even in the coop they are almost tangled up together trying to stay close.
No pics of Annie or Lady - they were nesting when I was out there. They have the cutest little pullet eggs! Lady is a love, I mean a love. She is right under my feet all the time AND she is not afraid of the power chair or scooter if my DH is in the yard. That is a plus for him as he always wants to hold one. Annie is just as sweet but not as easy to pick up - she is a talker though! Enjoy.

I'm glad that you are happy with them, and that your hubby seem's to have found him a chicken buddy!

It is so windy out there today, and the Ak-Chin weather station says that we have a cold front coming in. I have a pot of home made pork and veggie soup simmering on the stove that I am making today.

Well, since it's been so windy today, I decided that I wanted the chickens to eat the feed good before they roost for the night. I took some of the juices out of the pork and veggie soup and put it in a bowl, then went out and added the feed to it and mixed it up so the feed was wet enough not to blow away in the wind. They went crazy for it! I like it when there is none that is wasted!

We got a weather report too, I'm just south of Eloy & casa grande in Pinal county...the wind has only gotten worse. I fastened a tarp on the side of the coop just in case we get rocking winds plus rain.
I'm making egg drop soup  pork and veggie soup sounds delicious...I bet your girls are happy to get a taste!

Yes they were, and had to have changed the flavor from the regular feed alone! Plus, there was extra vitamins in it for the chickens from the veggies cooked with the juices.

Frys has that pork butt on sale for 99 cents a pound, so the one that I got was about 10 pounds. It wasn't frozen so I cut it into 3 parts, and froze 2 of them. The 3rd part I used to make my soup. I added a package of that frozen carrots, cauliflower, and broccoli to it plus some fresh cabbage, and a small 11.5-oz. can of that V8 juice. Season to liking.

Any idea how long the sale goes? I have to go to town tomorrow for groceries. That's a screamin deal for pork butt.

I'm sure that you can still get it tomorrow, because they change the sales for the week on Wednesdays. They also had it listed wrong in this weeks ad in the flyer. It listed on the back page of the flyer as Pork Shoulder Roast, but it is the Pork Butt roast one.
