Arizona Chickens

They will survive because you give them:love
I really hope so. I'm trying not to get my hopes up. They are really weak and one seems to have splayed legs. I made a little brace for it, but I'm waiting to see if it perks up a bit before putting it on. It is crazy to see these little day old hatchlings, and then go outside and there are my 10 big fluffy dinosaurs squawking around and laying eggs. I think I forgot they were ever that small and fragile! Chickens are so amazing. I'll keep you guys posted on the little ones. I told my husband, if one dies then I have to go get more, because you can't have just ONE lone chick! I think he and the dogs are planning an escape. Either that or I am going to have to move in to the coop :gig

Sad update...both babies have passed away. They died within an hour of each other. I was unable to get them to eat or drink on their own, so I gave a little nutridrench with a syringe, but it just wasn't enough. They were buried together amongst the compost in the garden. Poor sweet little guys didn't have a fair chance at life :hitThey were in a quiet room with the heat lamp so I hope they passed in comfort. At least they weren't in the noisy feed store getting stepped on by the 100 other chickies running around, or getting poked by some unattended child.
This impromptu experience made me really grateful for my girls (not that I wasn't already...you all know how obsessed I am). I am so thankful they all survived their postal service journey and are robust, healthy hens today. This reminded me how lucky I am, because chickens make me really happy and I get to spoil mine everyday :ya

At least you cared about them and did give them some love before they passed.

On another note, after I woke up I had a bit of a surprise over here, but it was a good thing that I was expecting to happen! 1:jumpy 2:jumpy 3:jumpy Not only that but it's my dogs birthday today too! Happy birthday, Buster!

Thank's! I would have to look up Buster's papers from his vet records that's in a folder here to know how old that he is now. I remember he was born on Feb.24th, but I can't remember what year it was. He's 7 or 8 now, and I have had him since he was 5 weeks old. I don't think he was really 6 weeks old when I bought him, because he didn't know much about food. He also had worms, so we had get that cleared up. He loves when I give him any kind of egg, boiled, fried, or raw. He look's forward to those little pullet eggs from the beginners. I saved one egg for him today because it is one that is long and skinny.
