Arizona Chickens

I really want to do 4h with my family when they're old enough. This is my first so I have a while before I can enjoy something like that but it's a goal for the future!
Has anyone here ever seen or heard of a mini cow? Our friend's son raises them, I think I would love do something like that one day. They are the same size as our mastiff dog! But they produce milk and you can use them for meat. I have no interest in the stuff my mastiff produces haha
Having assorted pets is a GREAT thing for children to grow up with. I'm a City Slicker, so cant have the pets I'd like to have. If I had some acreage I would have goats, sheep, ducks, and possibly one of these.

The goats would be the minis, as well.
I of course do not eat my pets,(including my chickens, but do eat eggs they produce) so all would be for ornamental purposes.

@meetthebubus I agree, I really hope our warmest days are behind us. This past week was downright nasty.

Yes, the heat has been bad, but it's also allowing me to see which breed of these new one's that I got for my flock this year hold's up from it. My NN's seem to need the use of the mister's the least.

This picture made my day! We always joke that the mastiff (Lou) is giving us good practice for one day when we get a horse :p She is so sweet I could probably just put a saddle on her and ride into the sunset haha.
I have also been interested in goats, I think the Nigerian dwarf breed would be really neat. A lady up the road raises them and makes goat cheese.

@DesertChic today we crowed!! They are about 16 weeks so it was time if it was going to happen. He, formerly known as Blondie is now Gizmo (named by DH), was very, very proud of himself! I have one other from the three failed chicks that has yet to crow but I know he too is a roo. We will see where this goes.... :p
Still no rain here - humid like crazy! Everyone is surviving including the human chickens. I really need a cooler day to work on the yard or try going to bed at noon so I can get up at 5am! That getting up early has barely been happening lately - 7am is hard :oops:and I insist I get up by then. After all the chickies, kitties and wildbirds all are waiting on me to feed them! :love

So, what color is Gizmo?

We have been getting tons of rain :celebrate It rolled in around 5, complete with thunder, lightening and a rainbow! The chickens were alarmed, and soaked, but refused to go in the coop where it's dry. I dried some of them off but they just went right back out into the rain. I guess they enjoy it as much as I do! Another monster storm is coming in right now but they will be roosting by the time it hits. I'm so glad we got that new roof up a few months ago for them.
