@FeatherPugs I have lots of fresh oregano so I'll put it in the treat bowl! Thanks for the idea. We have the solar trap from Arbico, it worked really well but then one of our dogs got to it. A hole was punctured in the top and now the flies can get out...but it did get the job done before.

@SonoranChick I use fresh from my garden. I have a large area planted and don't give it every time so the area planted seems to work for me right now. Logically I would think dried oregano would be okay - I'm going to stick to the fresh.
@DesertChic I love Arbico's fly eliminators - I get a quarter pack every month from Mar through Oct. BUT Arbico also has a solar fly trap that I am "saving for" that I want to get next year. I think it would only take one for my area but not sure what would happen at the neighboring places, etc. Right now the fly eliminators keep the flies at a real low level for about a 3 acre area. AND I can tell right now its time for new ones. Unfortunately the little wasps cannot breed fast enough to keep up with flies so they have to be renewed.
I've used them for 3/4 years now.

I'm getting their free trial of Fly Eliminators, and bought two solar fly traps and balEnce fly spray, mosquito spray & sprayer and ant traps. Seriously...I'm sick of all the bugs.

I've been using those fly traps you put water in. They smell horrid but work pretty well.

We used those the past two years, but for some reason this year they just don't work. I don't know if they changed the formula or if the flies at my house simply adapted, but they definitely don't work anymore.

Concentrated oregano oil in their water is a really good once-and-a-while health treatment to ward off respiratory issues, especially when it's cold or damp.

I seen that they offer a free sample of them there, but they also want to know what zone and has it listed as A, B, or C. Would we be in the Zone C?

Extra vitamins and electrolytes in their water really are the best things you can routinely give them right now, especially since we're headed into such intense heat and they'll probably start eating less again. If you feed wet food, adding some probiotics once per week can also be helpful. Fresh and dried herbs are always good, and chopped raw garlic if they start to show any signs of illness. And when it's damp I supply mine with an 'indoor' dust bathing box that includes diatomaceous earth and sphagnum moss and wood ash in an attempt to minimize mites and other parasites.

Dill and chopped garlic are excellent immune boosters.

I have the whole flock on grapefruit seed extract right now due to a few sneezes. Going another 10 days, been on it for 4.

I want to get my gang outside more. My situation is I can’t have an obvious coop so was thinking of getting a tent. I could set it up and put them in it in the morning. For cooling thinking of one of those little personal ac units. Fill it with water and it lasts 8 hrs. I could put 2 nesting boxes etc in it.

What do you all think?

You could always try it and see if it works for you. When are you coming back home from vacation?
