Sorry I forgot to provide all relevant info. The feathers was plucked by over crowded roosters before I got her. I have her for over a month now and her feather has grown back nicely. (she was almost bold, there was nothing on the back.)

Yes, I checked mites or ants nothing found. She was super healthy yesterday. She wasn't feeling well since this morning...

I see she has the heat rags - that's what I call when they get a little ugly in their feathers before molt - have you checked her for mites. Folks are having quite a time with them this year. Maybe a little bit of electrolytes to her water would help. I always think what would I do to me if I had to stay outside in the heat and it was still 105 at 11pm. Electrolytes for sure, extra protein for sure and as much water to stand in as possible to keep cool. Hope she feels better soon.

Is she a black Australorp? I only ask because I've noticed that my BAs are have a very difficult time with this heat compared to most of my other birds.

My first assumption would be that she's having a heat intolerance response, especially since she's also growing feathers in. @FeatherPugs is right about giving her electrolytes, preferably in nice, cool water. If it were me, I would probably bring her into the air conditioned house for a while and observe her. If she perks up with minimal care (food, clean water, electrolytes) then you can safely assume it's a heat related issue. If she doesn't perk up, then you may have other issues to contend with.

I have to agree. The Australorps don't do the heat as well as some other breed's do. That's why I'm not doing them this year. I love these Naked Neck's, though!

@Macboat ..... @FeatherPugs and @DesertChic are right they are some of the experts on this thread

Some of mine are a bit sleepy they arent sleeping well bc of the heat at night they are just trying to survive panting it out
If you are worried about her behaviour bring her in a tub or cage inside with everything mentioned plus plain Greek yogurt is a fave amongst chicken owners
Examine her droppings, crop,eyes and general behaviour

If you do bring her in integrate her back when its coolest outside like the am before they get up so her retufn is easy on her in the pecking order

Speaking of nn's my Easter eggers have decided to give each other a feather cut I'm assuming to help each other with the heat they are all carefully pulling out each others precious beards
So now I have a bunch of naked chin chickens

So now I have a bunch of naked chin chickens

And to think that you could have gotten some NN's to begin with, so that they wouldn't had to have worked so hard! The NN's also have less feathering on the body to help keep them cooler too.

DesertChic asked for a pair of white silkies so I have 5 eggs in my incubator now. So going to wait till it gets cooler to order so sq eggs. But as soon as I do I’ll let you know so I can get them to you.
