Arizona Chickens

My oldest hen (Splash Australorp) is molting, too! I also have another hen (NN) that's broody. I took the egg out of the nesting box, then went in there later to catch her sitting on someone else's egg that had been layed over on the ground. I took that one away from her, too!

I keep telling you she can come over and set some :lau

Eggs would not do me any good. 2 reasons, Don't have incubator, and not setup to have a brooder. Second reason is the possibility of roosters, which I cant have, and have no heart to eat.:hit
So only thing I can do is get known halfway grown pullets.
I was searching for a pair of Icelandics a while back. Turns out only one hen was available and another chicken of different breed. I like to always add in pairs. The journey was also not that attractive to me as it would have been a 180+ mile round. 2 Chickens,,,,,,:idunnoI passed.

I did a trip like that for two black naked necks :idunnobut they were known pullets.

Near the Harrah's Ak-Chin Casino right outside of the city of Maricopa. These mint egg girls aren't little chicks no more though, and have been running with my flock. You won't have to worry about a brooder, heat lamps, and such. I have 4 of those girls, and will sell them for $10.00 each if you want them. @Michelle Guynn has one of the sister's from that hatch.
Yes I do and wish I had room for the rest. Hazel as we call her is so sweet and very protective of her sisters. We love her.

I must be crazy. We're getting coturnix quail eggs to hatch this weekend! Super excited. If we have good results we're going to put them in the enclosed garden and raise for meat and eggs.

Still keeping my girls of course and hoping this nn chick is a roo in a way. It's an adorable thing right now but it's going to be a pretty bird when it grows up.

So expect eggs in October. I’m so excited. What size eggs will she lay?

I'm not sure what size she will lay. The Crested Cream Legbars side from her daddy don't lay that big of an egg. They are the smallest eggs I get out there. But, with her momma being my Splash Australorp laying a decent sized egg, I would guess that it would be somewhere in between. They will be mint green & bigger eggs than your Silkies lay, though. :gig

Well, if that little one end's up being a hen, then don't be disappointed. I'm sure that by the time you figure it out, I will have a roo over here for you. ;)

I'm seriously thinking of changing the flock dynamic this winter. I don't know, mulling things over. I need to see what's up with this little one. I don't see any serious comb or wattle growth so it might be a pullet. Time will tell.

Of those 2 that I hatched about a week behind you, the one that hatched from the tan egg I'm pretty sure it's a boy. It's probably going to look like Charley. The other one that hatched from the blue egg is white with black spotting in it and it seem's to be a pullet. It should be interesting to see how the feathering in the pullet grows out, being as it's mixed with the CCLB and should end up being another green egg layer.
