Arizona Chickens

My oldest hen (Splash Australorp) is molting, too! I also have another hen (NN) that's broody. I took the egg out of the nesting box, then went in there later to catch her sitting on someone else's egg that had been layed over on the ground. I took that one away from her, too!
I know how you feel there, I had two RIRs being broody at 3pm when I got home both birds where in the same nesting box ...

I broke down and marked 2 of the blue eggs and gave them to her. I wasn't planning on incubating them anyway's, and I can afford to loose those 2 egg's if it doesn't work out. I don't trust a broody to hatch my egg's for me.

My broody is doing a very faithful job, I'm proud of her, I just hope there's at least 1 baby chick that comes from all this!

@BlueBaby
How is the Breese chicken market doing for you? They are rare, pretty much everywhere. Greenfire farm seems to be the most likely place to get them, and they are Pri$ey. If I was closer, you know I would be a proud owner of 2 pullets already.

I only have my 3 pure White Breese pullets, and I kept one of the pure cockerels for them. I got them as hatching eggs through @cactusrota Mine aren't laying eggs yet. @cactusrota sells and ships hatching eggs for them.

Eggs would not do me any good. 2 reasons, Don't have incubator, and not setup to have a brooder. Second reason is the possibility of roosters, which I cant have, and have no heart to eat.:hit
So only thing I can do is get known halfway grown pullets.
I was searching for a pair of Icelandics a while back. Turns out only one hen was available and another chicken of different breed. I like to always add in pairs. The journey was also not that attractive to me as it would have been a 180+ mile round. 2 Chickens,,,,,,:idunnoI passed.

I can see how that would be tough on you. Maybe you can check in your current state thread to see if anyone up there has some of the White Breese. It wouldn't be too far for you to go and get a couple of pullet's then.

Those Icelandics were in Illinois and from a person on our state thread. It is just that they were far away. Have not come across any Breese from the peeps nearby. There are plenty of other standard chickens around, but I only want pets, so am kind of selective as to what to add. Now I have 5 chickens and only wanted to add 2.
Illinois is a long state and I'm in the NE corner. Peeps living in the southern part of state can be 350 miles one way distance. I did not loose my marbles yet, traveling that far for some chicken yet:gig:oops:
