Arizona Chickens

Most likely an injury. One of our baby chicks was born okay but mommy stepped on her and either severely injured the leg or broke it. I could not feel a break. We just wrapped it with the vet wrap stuff - although it was probably something I saved from my gazillion blood tests! - and checked it every few days. Mommy left it alone and worked with her for getting her places like jumping up etc. She if just fine today and can do almost everything anybody else does. She does not favor the leg or anything. My thought was that if you can stabilize it the leg will heal itself. Probably will heal itself without being stabilized. Those little chicks are so resilient. I'm glad you have the baby now - not happy with your neighbor.

Here is Picasso, do you think he is a RIR? See the comb? That's why I think it's a "he"

Good luck with the new chick... is his leg injured?

Is this for water or feed. If it's closed properly, it should only let a small amount at a time out. Try screwing the top in either tighter or looser.
It's for feed. It fills up the base and doesn't spill over, but the amount in the base is the same as the amount in the Mason jar. Maybe I need a bigger Mason jar? I have a pint one on there. If there was more feed in the jar, it would release slowly as the feed is eaten.

@meetthebubus Love the name! Maybe its a speckled sussex?
you know you may just be right! I looked that up and they look a lot alike! Guess we might see better once all the feathers are in...

So glad he made it to you.
Thanks! Me too poor baby is sooo sweet never had such a calm chick poor thing is probably in pain and traumatized but still cuddly and is eating really well

I put in a tiny stuffed animal for him and right now he's laying on top of it for the night so cute!
