Arizona Chickens

@igorsMistress Wonder is they are a mating pair? Now I'm curious and see if they would be pairing up now - we always think spring but maybe not. While it is cool, its not really cool either. We have an owl periodically around as it has flown through my trees but trees are pretty much in the way for swooping. We also have a mating pair of golden eagles close by. Are your chickens alarming?

No, they go after the quail, which are in a large enclosed garden. There's only shade cloth on the top over chicken wire. They land on top and can look down into the enclosure like they're in a tree. The chickens might hear what's out there but they weren't alarmed at all.

The owls are either a pair or one is a juvenile I'm sure. I need to read more about them but had to take a nap first.

Yes, I can see in the pic that there are two of them. I guess you won't be free-ranging anymore until they go away?

No, they're after the quail not the chickens. I'll just wait until after the sun is up more in the morning before I let the chickens out. That's it I think.

So Hazel got a diaper and has been roaming the house today. She is such a sweetie. I waited until she laid her egg today.

Hazels feathering is like the Blue Australorp which came from her Splash momma. Too bad she didn't get the crest from her CCLB daddy, but I know that you love her all the same.

... I got my hands on a crate of pickeling cucumbers.... there was a recipe on here we used last year, but I did not print it... and now I can't find it.... It was sooooooo good
Does anyone remember it?
Thanks
