Arizona Chickens

@meetthebubus Veterycin for 75% off! That's a screamin deal! :clap

We feed Nutrena country feeds layer crumble. There is some dust at the bottom of the bag but for the most part it just looks like a bag full of grape nuts cereal. They really like it, so I haven't switched food yet. I do add the feather fixer at times (need to get some soon with this molt they're going through) but they root out all of the little corn pieces and make a huge mess with that kind :hmm stinkers!

Anyone getting any rain action? We have big clouds and thunder rolling in!

The Feather Fixer I got is in the smaller pellet size. It was the only kind of it that the Pet Club here had. The brand name is Nature Wise by Nutrena, and it came in a 40# bag.

I know and I got it just a week or so before I needed it for cheetahs vent :yesss:

We got a few showers during power hour and then dumped on with hail too at roost time :clap

I guess the girls don't mind the dusty feed, and they do seem to eat it all, dust and everything. So it's just more annoying to me than anything else.

Light rain here! The new plants I planted will be happy.

Yeah, babies like the small powdery stuff too, I sometimes offer it wet then so they can eat it up :)

@Michelle Guynn When I ask you question's concerning the littler chickens that you have, please don't take it wrong. I am only curious and trying to educate myself about them, ok? You never know when I might be able to pass on some info that I learn through you that can help someone else someday. ;)
Oh no I would never. We are all learning. I can’t remember why silkies need more protein but a lot of silkie breeder feed the meat bird. They are such little birds and mine are very picky. A hen averages 26 ounces and cocks 34 ounces. My hens/pullets are small. The one cock Gus is big but phoebe is smaller. I pick up hazel then Matilda it’s crazy how light Matilda is.

Hope that helps.

I find it amazing sometimes at the differences between the different breed's of chicken's. It make's me wonder how they got chickens to be so small? I guess all of those silkie feathers make your's look bigger than they are then?
