Arizona Chickens

Sorry that you lost your dog. I understand how it feels to have to loose your dog that you have grown so close to over the years. Do you raise Schipperke's?

When we lived in NV we did breed out Schipperke then, but this little guy was neutered. My husband and I have discussed breeding, raising and showing them, but so far all we've done was love them.

Well, I know this isn't chicken related, but I also know you guys will understand.
...
Those of you who've loved and lost fur babies know how deeply it hurts. Morgan got me through a lot of really hard times and I miss him terribly. My heart is broken.

This is one of the last photos I took of him, last week on one of his 'good' days.

:hugsSo sorry for your loss..
Our friends, are the mirror of our lives... He was a beautiful companion.
:hugs

I can't believe how bad they have been this year! I've been fighting them for month's now. I even got a bunch of them when I seen that they had wing's, and those are the breeder one's! I'll be glad when I can see the end of them! I refuse to use natural repellents for them, because they will come back as soon as the repellent would wear off.

About that hole that you have, put some ant poison down for them, and then block off the spot where the chickens can't get into it.
My husband had an idea of putting the poison on the hole, covering it with a bowl, and putting a rock on top of that so the chickens couldnt get to it. The idea of actually putting the poison in their run scares me so much, especially because it looks just like their crumble. I think I'll try food grade DE if they show up in there again. You and I need to throw ourselves a party when the ant season ends this year  I seriously can't wait to see the end of them, and the dang mosquitos!

Well, when the ant season end's, I hope that I have killed all of them by then :gig, or the same thing will happen next year. Last year I only killed the ants in hills that I seen near the coop. This year, I've been doing the whole 3 1/2 acres. I want them gone! :rant:smack

I agree with you about the dangers of that poison it only takes one misplaced... I'm telling y'all, the food grade DE is great, works instantly, it's only downfall is it's temporary.

My issue is they crawl up the 2 by 4s and onto the roosts in the evening, so I pour DE on the roosts and they are gone in a few minutes and wherever the de is there are no ants crawling.... just don't get it wet or it will stop the effect

I have the big bag of DE from TSC

Well, I know this isn't chicken related, but I also know you guys will understand. One week and two days ago, my beloved Schipperke went from being lively and healthy to suddenly not eating (Saturday night). By Sunday morning he didn't even want to move so we drove an hour to take him to the emergency vet and were somewhat unprepared when they told us we had to leave him there. For the past week he fought hard to recover and we drove up there and home every single day to visit with him so he'd know we hadn't abandoned him, but last night his condition took a significant turn for the worse, and this morning we had to have him euthanized. He was my heart, and though he loved my husband and son, we all knew he was MY dog and bonded with me from the moment we met.

I am so sorry DC :hugs:hugs:hugs

@DesertChic I am so sorry about your fur baby. I totally dislike they don't live the same lives we live. Our big girl took my cancer to her own body - I'll always believe that - it tore me in half to put her down too. I cried for weeks - got rid of everything she owned. Then she showed me a brindle chug on PetHarbor for CG. Not the same as my big girl but our little girl is a bundle of happy. A candle is lit in Eloy for your sweet boy and hugs are being sent to those that loved him. Run free as the wind, run free.

This is a beautiful sentiment.

Had to share my pretty egg with you guys!
