Saw that bloody hawk sitting on the fence of my run today. Scared him off and locked the girls in the coop with a handful of mealworms. I'm glad to have a big coop for days like today.

@Suzyqschickens i'm far from an expert but I don't see any super obvious cockerels!

Woohoo!! I was thinking that one was a boy but they all looked to be girls to me!! The one we have named shadow since she feels the need to be right under me and anyone else all the time! She is a maran, she is the friendliest chick I have!!! She wants to cuddle and falls asleep on you! On another note was at tractor supply and I am pretty sure I found my wrapping paper for Christmas!!!

Our neighbors came by today so we could show them the ropes as far as feeding the dogs & collecting chicken eggs is concerned. The wife was so interested and entertained by the chickens, and had tons of really good questions for me. I love it when people like my chickens! (I mean, how could you not...lol) but it is so much fun talking to people and educating them about raising chickens. She said once they get their yard ready she would like to get some of her own. The more chicken people, the better!

Oh no. I know the feeling. Finally got Matilda back in her main pen with hazel and Norman.

Got Bo for another week. They have their house up for sale and don’t want him in the house until they have a contract. I have no idea what I’m going to do with all of mine when we get the house on the market.

@BlueBaby i have to share this with you! Has anyone else experienced a hen taking five older chicks in as her own? So crazy she actually will peck you if she feels you are hurting “her “ babies!
