@BlueBaby i have to share this with you! Has anyone else experienced a hen taking five older chicks in as her own? So crazy she actually will peck you if she feels you are hurting “hurting” her babies!

I guess that they have started their own flock going?

That's sweet! And special.... you know what? Maybe she isn't laying bc she has been broody, I've had hens that are broody but they wont actually sit on a clutch, that happened with Tigger she is acting broodyish doesnt sit on eggs or lay right now, and has become protective of Chulita who is 6 weeks old, now that her mama doesn't feel protective

Well she only laid like two or three eggs and then started mothering these girls and bam no more eggs from her. Made me laugh. She actually attacks my son and fluffs her feathers all up if he gets close.

It's probably due to the stress of the mama and baby coming back to the flock, fights, I will also treat everyone garlic and vet rx.... I knew her respiratory wasn't the best since little....

Well, I guess if Miss Foofy want's to mother those chick's, then it's less work for you to have to do.

@meetthebubus oh no! I hope you can find out what's wrong and get things back on track soon.

A few of my girls have been pretty lethargic lately, but I think it's due to molting. The new feathers that are coming in are so pretty and soft, I know their little bodies are working hard to produce all that new growth. Egg production is still down, but we are getting plenty for our personal consumption so I can't complain!
