Arizona Chickens

Hi everybody :frow

My computer broke so I'm off early. The unoverse will make me pay I'm sure but I'm happy to be done with my day early.

We are having pot pie for dinner, just a reheat from yesterday so that's easy.

What is everyone up to today?

I spent today on farm chores, harvesting produce from my garden, and planting new pasture for the chickens. I'm mixing oats and alfalfa this year, and hopefully the oat seed isn't too old to sprout. The chickens are VERY unhappy that their favorite plot of rich soil is fenced off again to allow the plants to grow. I was getting a whole lotta stink-eye today....but they'll absolutely adore me in a few weeks.

:gigThat stink eye can make you afraid to turn your back on them can't it? I dared to give the quail their scratch first the other day, I was terrified to leave the garden when I was done.

I've never gotten the stink eye.... they know how to work me though, I get those cries and little hopeful looks as they tilt up to look if I have something more magically in my hands... it usually works and i go back to find another treat lol

Had to share the cuteness! How many chicks do you see in Miss Foofy’s flock?

Had a dr appt in the morning. Came home and cleaned the laundry room and family room. Connected the two pens together since the babies are older. Had everyone outside at one point or another during the day.

Still worried about Norman. He was having some head twitching today. I’m thinking maybe he got stung by a scorpion. Gave him another half of a baby aspirin and vitamins. He is more alert this evening. Just have to wait and see.

Rest of the day I worked on my diamond art.

Yes I work @ home. I live 20 miles west of Phoenix and the office is in Chandler now. Way too long a commute, it was already bad when I had to just go downtown.

That's too bad about Busters ligament. Maybe he needs more time to heal? We use Bil-Jac peanut butter treats or hardboiled eggs for meds with our dogs. The pb treats they love so those work best for us.

Yes, only time will tell if he didn't tear it up all the way, it might heal. We used to put his pills or capsule med's in pieces of hotdog or ground beef around it. Then he happened to bite into one and spit it out & wouldn't trust them anymore. Now I get his allergy med in a capsule and cut it open on one end to pour the powder over his cooked scrambled egg and mix it up.

Didn't you say that you were going to be taking Norman to a vet?

They're smart little devils lol. We had to keep our JRT guessing all the time.

I think Norman has an appointment for today isn't that right @Michelle Guynn

So my chicks have been sleeping in a pile in a cardboard box on its side in their coop, but the box was getting pretty gross, and they're 7 weeks, so I tossed the box. At sundown they were snuggled in a pile where the box had been, so I put them all on their baby roost that I have in the coop. I woke up to see this line of poo under the roost, so am I correct in thinking that several of them probably roosted all night?
