Yep, it happens. My older girls start to grow spurs - my 7/8 year old black Aussie has spurs. Crazy looking.
Not that I've heard. I think it's along the same lines as some women growing chin hairs.... it just happens sometimes.Do the hen's try to spur the owner's too like some rooster's do?
I have heard it's more common with older hens...I wonder if their hormone's are changing when that happen's?

I have no idea that a hen would do that. I don't have any hen's growing spurs.
