well, we had a flash flood warning up here in the Mayer-Cordes area, due to lots of rain! But two of my birds were out foraging anyway, for a while at least. Now I have to revise the drainage to keep their pen dry!

It just basically sprinkled here off and on, but not enough to bother my flock any. They were still all out there in the run except for the hen's when they were laying the egg's. It's supposed to be dry today with no rain, so I'm going to give them a little of the left over Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo that I made a couple of night's ago for a treat. My dog Buster already had his share of it.

Lots of shade; lots of water. Install an automatic waterer. Miss water one day, and you are out of the chicken business. Put a lawn sprinkler in the chicken yard on a timer so that it goes off several times a day.

The rains we have had in the last couple of days produced a bounty of grass and weeds. Chickens love dandy lions, mustard weed and winter grass. Let them go at it.

We are in Kingman and looking forward to our first chicks in the next month. Their new coop and pen are just about complete! Looking for suggestions on where to find the healthiest chicks for a good start. Thanks

I have mine on a timer during the hot summer month's, and set the timer for only the hottest part of the day. It also help's to put some type of block of ice in the drinking water to help to keep that cool.

Nice looking coop! I would get a breed or breed's of chicken's from someone local, as they usually have chick's or chicken's that are already accumulated to our climate. Some of us here do breed own. What breed or breed's are you looking for?

A breeder is always best but tsc or feed stores have good quality too.

What breeds are you looking for. I have some silkie eggs in the incubator due to hatch in 2 weeks.

There is also a Arizona chicken math club that meets once a month in new river/north Phoenix area where local people bring birds to sell. I’ll be there with whatever silkies I want to sell next month. They met today so I’m thinking March 16 th will be the next meeting. The club is on Facebook.
