Arizona Chickens

Give it a little more time or post up a photo from the side so we can see his comb or back feathers
Head from the side I can do, but the back not probably for another 2 weeks to a month, this is the little one that I have in the hospital ward.. it's going to be a while before the back and tail feathers back. I do not have the rest of the hatch mates to judge against as far as size goes..

this is about the best that I can do right now, hubby's sleeping can't wake him

:frowHi everyone

@starri33 I think that's a handsome little dude you got there.

I put 16 eggs in my incubator yesterday. 4 are from my own girls @BlueBaby so Fugly might be a papa in a few weeks. I'll be honest, my a/c is on and I love that humidikit thing.

I spent the morning outside with the chickens. Beautiful out there! The lemon tree is buzzing with bees, the mesquite trees are greening up and a few of the oleanders are blooming.

Hubs is off tomorrow so we hope to get the mini coop done. The baby quail are outside in the garden now and I'm getting the brooder ready for the new chicks.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend all :frow

Sounds like you are in for a busy Sunday, so glad you are liking the humidikit, I've got to try mine again, it was leaking but it was the first time I'd used it so I could have put it together wrong, I went back to the old way and got a 5 out of 6 hatch, did a egg-topsy and the one that didn't hatch quit right at the embryo stage. The one hatch I did with the humiditikit I got a 5 out of 6 as well, I'm getting ready to put another hatch on.. lol, I've been hatching for most of our valley I am beginning to think.. the 5 I have in the brooder tote will be going home to their parents this week, the patient in the hospital cage, the bruising is pretty much gone now, no signs of infection. Now to wait for the feathers to start coming back.

I found that the lid for the bottle needs to be snug but not tight. My biggest issue is that water collects in the tube and drips into my incubator. I moved the humidikit to a lower spot and that helped a lot. I have a sponge in there to collect drips though.

The valley is lucky to have you available for hatching!

I'll have to make sure the bottle is snug, I didn't worry about the drops as when I put the water in manually, it just gets squirted in. I've got one of those ear wash bulbs (never used, lol) that I use for putting water in the incubator, didn't come with those little trays. Guess after my first hatch, I stopped panicking lol, but then mine are all mutts, I don't have to worry about blood lines. Gave a guy some hatching eggs the other day, who ever told him about hatching scared him. I thought he was going to pass out from seeing my temp sitting at 97. My humidity had dropped to 39, it was time to add more water, this was the day before hatching started. I told him to relax..

@starri33 I agree that it's a boy above. It also look's to have a double comb on it? What breed is he?

@igorsMistress If Fugly becomes a daddy, should I tell Charley that he's a grandpa? :lau
BlueBaby, he's a mutt..lol.. I have no clue what his mix is. I know his daddy was Billy Bob my roo, when I asked what he was, I got a "barnyard mix" lol, then his momma I am going to guess is one of the little hens that came with Billy Bob, I have no clue what they were either, the only other hens I have are sex links.. I can tell my current Roo is Billy Bob's (only cause he was the only roo at the time) and one of my sexlinks because of his coloring. Speed Racer is going to be beautiful, black feathers with the iridescent green in the sun, little white patches at the base of his tail feathers, his I guess they are called saddle feathers are a mix of black and gold, with gold around his necks

Missing the weather in AZ. I’m in Pennsylvania visiting kids and grandkids for a few days. Missing my chickens too but I think they are in hands with hubby. He spoils them more than me most times.

Enjoy your visit, and have a safe trip back!

Edit: I'm making Spaghetti for a late dinner tonight. Hubby is out in the yard with his new toy to get the weed's out of the yard.
