This incubator can hold 42 egg's in the turner, so the 20 egg's hasn't filled it up.![]()
Ya know honestly I've never really had to do much in cases like this except keeping separate with good food and water. Last fall I had a cockerel jump out of the bachelor pad pen at about 3 months old and my old boston terrier/minpin dog got ahold of him. pretty much did the same amount of damage because I heard the commotion and got there in time. She just had him pinned down and plucking. There were feathers everywhere but no real bigs wounds. I just threw him in a cage as is with his own food and water. (he was going to be an enchilada when he got older anyway) and it all grew right back and he was 100% in no time.Thank you, I'm going to keep a close eye on her, she's up, she's eating and drinking so those are all good signs. I think tomorrow I'll bring a dog kennel in and put her in that, will be easier to keep a eye on her.
She has a private room lol, tote that is.. but she can hear them chirping, so I hope that helps with her loneliness. I don't want her getting depressed because she's not with her flock.. the chick's will be moving this Friday, they are hatched for a friend to start replacing their flock.. coyotes around here like chicken. She'll stay in the house for another week at least let the wounds and stuff scab over, after that I'll be moving her to the TSC coop, a look but don't touch.. I'll be using that for a grow out coop. I might just take her back home before she gets her feathers back, with instruction to keep her in the house till she does.I know I'm here a bit late but........That really looks like a hen fight. Multiple hens against one. I am partial to Vetricyn - you can get it Tractor or other places like that. I usually get the spray and am able to just spray a couple times a day. I clean the first time. Use the spray a couple times a day for a couple days and then let it heal. I also give a little electrolyte in water and extra protein. Most of mine get scrambled eggs in the hospital cage. I was worried that she might bother your babies in the brooder. Remember she's mad and hurts - many take that out on babies if they can. Maybe I misread that though. I don't think you need the blu-kote until she's back out with the troops. This way the hair will help heal. Crazy things chickens do.
