Arizona Chickens

As close as we can figure, the roo did it, she was put straight in with the rest of the flock, there wasn't any look but don't touch time.. the others that went out with her are now in a crate for look but don't touch for minimum a week.. I'm keeping her here, once the damage scabs over, she'll be moving into my TSC crate for the rest of her healing, will be a look but don't touch with my flock.. we'll see where things are when she's totally healed.

I am heading out to go get a chick/pullet that had just been added into her flock about a hour ago, parent came out for something and found her bloody, will send pictures when I have them, in the meantime I need suggestions on what to treat her with, she looks bad, back and tail.

Need to know what you're looking at first. Not hydrogen peroxide! Post in emergencies forum too, you might get more immediate help. Good luck.

Thanks, I looked for a forum about this kinda stuff and could not find one, I posted pictures, from what I can see they've ripped every tail feather out and her back is pretty much bare but no blood.

Found the form and posted.. I'm worried about doing any treatment such as washing her or putting ointment on her till I know what to do.. :( , I know blu coat.. have to get that, but not sure what else.

Eek! Poor baby. I used Blu-kote after cleaning up one of my girls. No one bothered her owies and it's good if the wounds aren't gashes.

nothing that could really be considered gashes but there are some deeper wounds, she just got a bath using hibcleanse rinsed and then hydrogen peroxide, after that antibiotic ointment, shes currently wrapped in a towel snuggled against my chest

:hugsI think you are doing a great job. I would just let her heal up as she is. Not sure she needs anything else. Scabs do form , and allow healing to occur. Advantage with Bluecote is that color does not appeal to other chickens to peck at.
Chickens just go nuts over wounds that show red.

She won't be going anywhere near other chickens till she has her feathers back, she's in what is now going to be called my hospital tote..lol, sharing the brooder room with my new hatchlings 3 that are just over 24 hrs old, 1 that is about 10 hours old, along with 2 eggs still in the incubator which one I am believing is on their way to join everyone else.. the other 17 are out in their coop/run, when she looks like the skin is pretty much healed up, she'll go into the TSC coop and be a look but don't touch for a while. After that we'll see about getting her home to her mommy

Chicken snuggling..lol, needed to dry her and given the circumstances, was not going to try patting her dry, so wrapped her up and snuggled her till she was pretty much dry
