Arizona Chickens

I explained the term "Chicken Math" to him today, he groaned and said "oh god..."
I consider him duly warned! LOL
(Besides, even though he said "don't name the food" - which usually I agree with - they *are* growing on him, and it's gonna be a while before *any* of them are big enough to eat or get eggs from, so why not enjoy their personalities in the meantime?) :p

I *think* I have Americaunas, but I'm going to take pics later when I get back from home depot and post them. I have three that look very much the same, color-wise, one who's a significantly different coloring. One of the three seems quite obviously male (to me) while the off coloured one seems to also be female.

Where you at that Kingman is "up here?" :p

I'm over rural just outside of the city of Maricopa, near to the Harrah's Ak-Chin Casino.

Welcome to this group.. :) Iris, I am Carmen.. member of the FB group, Golden Valley Living and also Mohave County Cluckers.

Hi! My mom's name was Carmen, which I gathered from her was an unusual spelling of the name, but I haven't found it to be so.

When I first moved to AZ I was offered a place in GV, on Verde past where it turns to dirt on the side of the highway where the bingo hall is. We were "rent-to-own'-ing it, so the *title* was in my name, but the *mortgage* wasn't, so when the guy stopped paying the bill, we were booted off. We lived in an RV for a few years up at the outpost, then hubby said: "nope, I'm going into town." So we got an apartment in town, then eventually we ended up here on the *other* side of town, within walking distance to the college.

I hardly ever go on Facebook anymore, too much drama, drama, drama! People are rude, assume the worst of you, actively troll you for fun, and yeah, just don't need that in my life. I do have a gardening group I visit once in a while, so I might check out the cluckers group.

Thanks for the welcome!

Hello, fellow Chicken lovers!
My name is Iris and I'm in Kingman!
I started reading this thread and saw about Golden Valley, and about panicked until I saw the retraction! Whew!

You can look at my intro post here:
https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/new-old-chickie-nana-from-kingman-az.1307727/#post-21313177

Other than that, just ask me here, or take me out for coffee/iced tea, I'm pretty easy going and don't really have a lot of friends (when we moved here a few years ago, my son went to MCC and so all I've had around were 20-somethings, never got to know other people my age or interested in the things *I'm* interested in... My own fault for staying to myself I guess...)

Also, if any of you have a goat or two and need a yard for it to munch on, our weed eater seems to have died halfway through our yard cleanup process.... :( It's *really* tall, I'm afraid to let the chicks out during the day, afraid I'd lose them in the jungle that is the other half of the yard!

P.S. - I forgot to share my happiness! Tonight after hubby went to bed, the one I think is a roo (*See below) jumped up on the side of the box (I hadn't covered them for the night yet) and ended up on my chest as I watched TV (which is rare in itself!) and just huddled down and let me pet him and his eyes rolled back, and he passed out asleep, but he even fell over sideways, legs kinda out to the side, like a tiny dog on my chest! It was SOOO freaking cute!! Then something loud happened on the show, and he woke up, so I put him back with his sisters.

*I called them "Our Sisters of Perpetual Poultry" until we kinda got an inkling that one was a boy... but medieval monks were also known as Friars, so now he's "Fryer Tuck!" I'm pretty sure I'm not gonna want to eat him when he gets big enough, he's probably going to get an anti-crow collar so I don't have to quiet him down the other way...
Hi and welcome!

I'd take the pair because I have been trying to find a showgirl.
