Arizona Chickens

@igorsMistress , it does make a lot less stressful.. I gave him some scratch out of my hand for a couple of days, just to make sure he got some, then when he bit my hand because I didn't hurry, that cancelled that idea, told him he had to grow up, get in there and get some or he wasn't getting any..lol..

Rude! I have a hen that gets a little pushy once in a while. She gets her treats last and I throw them so she has to run when she does that

Wow how many eggs a day are you getting now?

I can't blame Buster, I can feel the temperature change in my office each afternoon. I should really close the blinds in here.

How many egg's a day I'm getting now depend's from day to day. Those 4 pullet's are just starting in on laying egg's, so those are pretty small. I'm down to 5 laying hen's now, and one of them went broody on me as I already mentioned. The broody is that one that's dark around the eye NN that you liked.

I'm waiting until the sun is about to go down so I can go back out there to do something. I had 150 pound's of feed that came this afternoon, but I want to split that one 50 pound bag that has the finer chick starter feed into 2 bucket's to bring into the house. I need to be ready for my next hatch, don't I? :lau

Yes, Buster loves that cool air coming out of that vent.

Hi Arizona Chicken posters

I hope I am not interrupting anyone's conversations. I would like to introduce myself. my name is Tim Goodman I have lived in southern Arizona all my life. I have had chickens on and off all my life. I currently live near my home town of Safford. I was down to a few old hens, so I hatched some out over the last few months. I am retired, and I am going to continue to keep chickens and probably some guineas around for my enjoyment. I look forward to reading the posts on this thread.

Good morning Arizona :frow

@nicollee how's your hen? Did you find some help?
Not much improvement...
I was sent to a help file, that suggested sour crop.
When I took her out to try to massage her crop, I accidentally tipped her, and some ugly but not foul smelling liquid came out. We tried giving her coconut oil, and put some ACV in a small bowl of water, that she won't drink. I aspirated a chicken once before, so I don't want to force feed/water her.... just not sure what else to try.

Hi Tim :frow

Welcome to BYC and our AZ thread. Sounds like you've got lots of experience to share. I'm looking forward to getting to know you.

What kind of chickens do you have?

PS...there's no such thing as interrupting. We're all here to talk with each other!
