Arizona Chickens

Well, just in from cleaning the chicken yard. I had my first predator in 10 years. I have had an occasional owl but not gotten any chickens. I'm thinking this was early this morning. His poop was still very wet and looked more like a dog than a coyote. Also left two chickens in the yard with only "scratches" on them. Ate at one but left behind guts and such. I'm thinking dog. Now to figure if we have a stray dog in the area. One older, not often laying girl, one of my NN and @BlueBaby my blue australorpe Gracie Lee. I'm sad but will be mad if the neighbors just let their dogs out to run early in the am - they are not chicken proof. DANG!!

Sorry that happened to you! Dog's running loose can completely take out a whole flock. Remember that happened to my next door neighbor to the north of me a few years ago. Dog's on the loose can team up with other dog's on the loose. We just had one on the loose over here yesterday that thought it was going to go after my dog Buster who was outside in his "yard", but it got zapped by the electric fence surrounding the "yard". It let out a yip and tore off running to the north. Good thing my chickens are secure.

I have some NN chick's that are just about ready to go outside now. There's another chick that hatched from shipped egg's that isn't NN, but I'm holding onto that one for sure.

Oh no! I'm so sorry Featherpugs. I hope it's not a neighbor letting the dog out. :hugs

Checking in from New Oxford Pennsylvania. I know not Arizona but I feel more connected to you all than the PA thread.

We moved into our new house almost 2 weeks ago. We love it. Ordered my chicken coop and ordering the run on Friday.

Emma’s been laying and my new white roo should be the father so going to fire up the incubator Friday and put in what I have by then.

It’s very windy here but no snow yet. Having a family thanksgiving tomorrow

I hope all of you have a wonderful thanksgiving!

It's nice to see you checking in and letting us know how your move has been going. So, you have a white silkie roo now? Happy Thanksgiving to you, also!

Have a GREAT HOLIDAY everyone, from the MIDWEST:highfive:
