Arizona Chickens

I have been reading your posts here since you joined. I do come with a conclusion that,,,,,,, CHICKEN MATH HIT YOU LIKE A TSUNAMI,,, :thumbsup
Keep up the good work and stay safe:hugs
I'm afraid I can't deny that.. I just counted my chickens, after selling a few, having a couple die from old age and getting the Roo count down, I've "only" got 42 at the moment, but that is not counting the 4 in the grow-out pen.., Jill my broody in the NN coop broke today, so I have to toss her eggs tomorrow :( , Cruella's sitting on 5 (her's are very early in the game) and Midnight is now sitting on 3, I took the 4th and have it in my large incubator, it didn't seem to be as far along as the other three she has. I'm truly at a loss as to what I am going to do with it, it's to far along to give to Cruella, I don't know that it will be in a position to give back to Midnight for her hatch on the 8th.. and both of my incubators are tied up and I have no where to put it on lockdown. The 6 in my small incubator, I candled and they all have veining, they are the Blue NN egg's, so it's full, my 24 count can hold 2 more eggs and that is it. lol.. anyone else find them selves in this mess? It's funny that you say Tsunami as I tell people "I don't make waves, I make Tsunami's."

I'm wondering what Easter is going to be like this year for people with the stay at home thing going on and no gathering's of more than 10 people. I've heard that egg shelves have been cleaned out in some places. I'm ok over here on my egg's, and gave 4 dozen of my refrigerated from my flock to friend's the beginning of last month. I currently have 6 dozen sitting in my fridge, and 16 more in my incubator.
16 eggs or 16 dozen in your incubator? lol.

16 Egg's. I only have an incubator that can hold up to 24 egg's at a time. I'd need one of those incubator cabinet's to be able to do 16 dozen, don't you think? :lau
Yup, you'd need one.. I think your like me and you'd get strangled if you hatched that many at a time.. Glenn has been laughing at me when I've said I'm done for a while.

Well, with what I have going on with those now, it should hopefully be enough to keep me busy until this corona virus thing is over, and some can also become food later if I need to if it goes on longer than expected.

Understand that, Just told Glenn that I was reading some of my local FB posts, that I couldn't believe how blessed we are.. if it goes on more than 2 or 3 months, we might be in trouble, but otherwise we're doing ok. Some of these chicks will take the place of those that will have to go in the freezer, I've been trying to stay away from processing my hens, but I will if I have too.

Our hen duck Silvia is having a hard time coming our of her broody trance. I let her out every 2 days to eat, drink, caca & so the other girls don’t beat her up.
I should of found someone with fertile eggs to put under her when she was broody. I have a incubator if someone in the east valley has extra fertile eggs. Any breed is fine.

I was looking at craigslist a couple of day's ago and I think someone that lives in the east valley was trying to sell some mixed breed one's in the farm and garden section.

Grow out pen done! The girls are happy!
