Arizona Chickens

:lau You're going to have broodies coming out of your ear's over there! :gig
yup, more than likely.. I want to let them hatch, once the silkies are old enough, I might break them as they pop up, as I will have a lot better control over who and what the silkies are hatching. these guys, I'm never for sure..lol.. oh, well, Extra Roo's become Sunday dinner.. hens are new blood for eggs, only picked up 18 today.. yesterdays collection was amazing, I'd missed the Friday evening collection due to company being in, so I picked up 4 dozen.

Gotta pre-bake them 🤷‍♂️
Would only be maybe 5-6 of themView attachment 2133049
I actually see an EASY solution to your shed :thumbsup
Remove the door, and make a framed out entrance using 1/2 inch hardware cloth. When finished using as coop,,, just replace with original door. Not sure if you are aware about meaties,,,, they are eating machines=pooping machines. The large opening will still provide oxygen to your flock inside.
Other option is to place safety signs on existing door.

At least you know those eggs are safe from getting chilled,,, when hens get off to eat or drink or go dudu.;)
Very true, with the way the other girls pack into the broodies boxes, I pretty much don't have to worry about them getting cold..lol. Out of the 8 eggs in the main flock that my two girls started with (4 ea.) I am now down to 4 eggs (2 ea.) everyone else climbing into the nest box, some are getting broken. Last week I had the broody, 2 other hens in the box and a third trying to figure out how to get in, my boxes are not much bigger than 12" x 12".

I know that the hatching math got a hold of you,,,,, but as I read across BYC,,, it seems there is a shortage of chicks nationwide. There still are some,,, but the choice chicks just dried up, in availability for way into this season.
You should have no problems finding homes for hens anyways. I also think the cockerels will move into the food chain easily as well.
