Arizona Chickens

FYI The Olsen's Grain in Dewey usually sells chicks, but usually in March/April. They used to publish a list of the breeds and dates they'd have them.
I have some chicks on the way. I wanted to check out the food supply @ TSC, not as good as the local Olsen's, I think. I am getting some hatchery chicks to break in my set-up, then some of the Barred Hollands that rjhons39 has. I hope I put his name in right! Growing some grass here in Prescott, we can have grass in AZ. (just not in PHX). AZgrass.jpg

I’m fixing to get some grass for my backyard down here in Sierra Vista 👀... mind you it’s going to be fake grass but still. 🤣

My nextdoor neighbor has grass in the back yard, but they put in sprinkler system on a timer so that it can stay green. I'm glad that you are planning on getting some from rjohns39. He's in another thread here that I watch, and seem's nice.

I have some white rocks from Ideal in the order that will be here in June and a nice red NN boy would be an interesting addition. Might not stay long, unless I can get an exemption for the males for 4-H. We had a difficult winter up here, have housing now!

Right now I don't have any red NN boy's, but there is a possibility of some hatching out here next month from the hen's egg's that I chose and have set this go around.

I had plenty of grass.. bermuda hell. I got most of it finally gone, just a few stubborn places that I need to work on. I decided to shut off the sprinklers altogether and plant ice plants.. no maintenance and no water. I'm going to put some raised garden beds on the side of the house for veggies.

You mentioned before that you might like a white rock girl. I do not know how meaty they are, that is why I ordered them to see but I would trade you for one of your nice NN boys, if you like.

I'm not into doing the super meaties. I like them to lay the egg's too, so just a decent sized dual-purposed one is good enough for me.
