Arizona Chickens

All of the animals and chicken's here and nextdoor are all ok this morning over here. A few of the smaller branches of the trees were on the ground, but no big limb's. The Humidity out there is higher, and you can feel that. The temp. is back up to 100-F. right now.
Very nice here today. It is already getting hot, though. Been working on a hoop house/green house.

Off to the store for more conduit!

Have you considered using cattle panels? only if they are available in your nearby area.

Good suggestion. Those cattle or horse panel's can be used for other thing's too. My chicken's run is made from used horse panels. Some are even placed over the top to help keep thing's secure for them. Then just run whatever wire you will use over them, and a roof to help keep out sun or rain can be attached over the top.

I have looked at Andalusians and coveted them, as you know I like grey birds! Prescott sure has been hot lately, rain last night hopefully cooled it off some. How are the sapphire gems as layers?
they are wonderful, laying big eggs starting at 18 weeks (at least my two did). they were laying about every day also, very productive. more productive than brown leghorns. easy to order 15 and sell as many as you want, the sapphires are very popular. they did better in Cordes Lakes than the amberlink did also. They were calm, not quite as calm as the amberlink (which were bred from isa browns at that hatchery), but still didn't get flustered when I herded the group back to the yard, after someone had left our gate open.

What color are the males, do you know? I would order unsexed if they are easy to tell and the males are light feathered. Then I would not have to sell very many, males have a home here in my freezer.;)

Here's the link to the dominant cz website, I believe this is where the grandparent and parent stock come from, that the hatcheries would use:
https://old.dominant-cz.cz/produkt/dominant-blue-d-107/?lang=en
The picture looks like a male-colored blue andalusian, or a splash. There's a link elsewhere on BYC where they said the males should be barred. They can feather sex as day olds, that's the point of all the CZ birds, so if you ordered straight run, you should be able to distinguish them, and if you ordered females, the hatchery should do a better than 90% job, assuming they use feather sexing instead of vent sexing. I ordered 12 pullets, and got no males.

Sounds cool! Like a black sexlink, the feathers on the males would be darker than I might prefer, but I want to practice making capons with cheap, for sure males. Looking online, the males will be pretty small. Brown sex-link males from Ideal on my shopping list.

Sometimes we need to be careful what we wish for...... OF COURSE IN REALITY IT DOES NOT MAKE ANY DIFFERENCE..
Most of you here know that I'm the Long distance friend from 2000 miles EAST. :old .. This is what hit us here last Monday. ALL my chickens are fine BTW.:thumbsup

Those branches will provide at least 3 good campfires. Big logs I save for wood stove for winter.
This was from about 3 weeks ago,

So is the taste of rooster any different, or are all the store chickens a mix of both sexes? I guess i always assumed they were only hens.
