Arizona Chickens

Sometimes we need to be careful what we wish for...... OF COURSE IN REALITY IT DOES NOT MAKE ANY DIFFERENCE..
Most of you here know that I'm the Long distance friend from 2000 miles EAST. :old .. This is what hit us here last Monday. ALL my chickens are fine BTW.:thumbsup

Those branches will provide at least 3 good campfires. Big logs I save for wood stove for winter.
This was from about 3 weeks ago,

Yes, sometimes Rain comes with side-effects!

Ugh! I canceled my Hoover's order today, for the 15 andalusians hatching 9/15. Too much going on right now. I had to order some fencing to reinforce the bottom of my chain link. Two days in a row the girls were getting under it. The neighbors had cleared brush away, giving my birds a path in that I never saw before. We're going to move back up north, probably having to weather another summer in black canyon first. Once back up there, I'll go back to the sapphire gems and other sex link type birds. That way, if someone leaves a gate open, at least the birds come back easily. Too stressful trying to herd andalusians, as sweet as these girls are. So these four can move with me, I just don't want any more, and nothing else survives the heat here well enough to suit me. For now, I'll just be happy to get through the rest of August. Looking forward to cooler temps, and being able to take the portable cooler out of the coop/run.

@cavemanrich Just in case you were homesick, this happened yesterday before the sun went down. Talk about a dust bath. ;)

No dust storms or rain here.

It's still 100F at 10:15 PM. Phoo. 😐

I keep thinking about Christmas and trying to remember what it's like to feel cold!

It rained for a bit here, and I mean it rained not just sprinkled. I hope that the chicken's weathered it out ok. There were some good gut's of wind.

Sure remember those dust storms well:thumbsup. We don't get them here in our area.
Wanted to share an update on out storm. The winds were fierce, but I was not outside when the blasts occurred. Watched everything thru the window. Then the power went out.
Today I took this pix of a squirrels nest on same tree as the other large branch broke off.
Just goes to show how they are MASTER. BUILDERS. According to the weather reports on that day, the wind gusts were up to 90 MPH. A few tornado touchdowns, closest one to me was about 6 or 7 miles away.
Electric Company was working non-stop restoring power. I got power back on third day. Some had to wait until 5th and 6th day.
Nest is a little hard to see, but it is that big glob in center of picture. :frow

I looked around other trees, in the area, and the nests were there also.

I have looked at Andalusians and coveted them, as you know I like grey birds! Prescott sure has been hot lately, rain last night hopefully cooled it off some. How are the sapphire gems as layers?
