Arizona Chickens

There's a pretty good wind blowing out there today, but it doesn't seem to be bothering them much as they are still being active out in the run.
I was worried as I was at work all day. Came home and all is well.. We have 2 umbrellas in the run, under the shade cloth. That shade cloth held them in. Everyone was accounted for, I am so happy no chicken got blown around or out of the run. Plus our girl keeps a good eye on her flock.

That's good! I have shade cloth attached over the far end of my pen too. I'd be interested in seeing how you have the umbrellas set up. I might use some next year for the summer if it will help.

Hi everyone! Yesterday we went camping and boy, we were not prepared :lau We went up to strawberry Arizona and it was cold! The low yesterday was 30° and when we got there, we realized there were no fires allowed. Safe to say we nearly froze overnight when it dropped to 20° and even snowed. We had planned on staying until later today but as soon as we woke up around 6am we decided it was time to leave ;) I prefer the slight breeze here over the snow haha. I hope everyone’s enjoying the weather!

This morning I was up early and sitting in the yard with the dogs and I quite clearly heard a rooster crow. Never heard that around here before. It was a few blocks away, but it was distinct. We're not allowed to have roos but I was delighted to hear him greet the day, anyway! I know of only a few people keeping 2-3 hens, so maybe this means chickens are becoming more popular around here. 🐔

I've only heard one of my 2 boy's crowing so far, but the 2nd boy is about a month and a half younger than my crower.

We have 4x4 posts with shade 2 cloths, older one on top, 1 piece of corrugated metal & the rest is bird netting. The umbrellas are placed in the lower spots of the shade cloth. It’s been about 2 years so the rope (hay, plastic rope) needs to be tightened.

It’s a great sound, hope no one turns them in.

Look's good! What plant is that growing up there on it?

What's that beautiful green vine growing on your coop?

Edit: oops, just noticed BlueBaby asked the same thing, lol.
