Arizona Chickens

yesterday was a terrible day with that wind. we had gusts of 50mph and I lost 4 of my birds to the wind. I watched as one of the young roo's ran across the run, wings flapping only to be picked up by the wind and thrown into the roof wire 10 feet up and come crashing down to break its neck from the way it landed. I lost 4 to broken necks yesterday from the wind. I will be spending today making coop doors so I can lock them up during wind storms.

Sorry that you lost them to the wind. Were they a smaller breed?

Good afternoon everyone, it seems people are back to over-stocking goods. We went to Costco today and they were all out of toilet paper and lots of cleaning products, hopefully it’s only temporary but even the worker said they’re not allowed to say when new shipments arrive. I would advise everyone to maybe just grab an extra bag of toilet paper or other essential items while they last, in case there’s shortages again  stay safe everyone!

That’s terrible! I’ll be sure to keep the chickens in the run when there’s heavy wind, where are you located?

Hi AZ. Hope you’re all well. Fantastic weather we have don’t you think? We had wind on Saturday and some rain last night but it wasn’t much, just a few puddles around this morning. I got my garlic, carrots and some lettuce planted yesterday. Still need some more soil to finish filling up a bed and then I have more greens to plant. Also planted some grass for the bunnies.
Sadly I am without a flock right now. I’ve decided not to have chickens for at least a year due to pigeons and disease. I had a neighbor who decided to feed them and they of course realized there was a constant source of food and water here. Not good, but building a run isn’t practical for my situation so we’re done with chickens for a while. I do have Indian Runner duck eggs in my incubator though, first batch is due to hatch around Thanksgiving. Stay safe and healthy all.

We went to walmart over the weekend to get a few things and found that to be the case there also. I grabbed a couple 4 packs of TP even though hubs said we have plenty. I just looked around at the shelves and then back at him and he agreed it was a good idea to have it and not need it. Fortunately I’d already purchased cleaning products last month well in advance of needing them.

Confirmed- TP shelves nearly bare on Saturday at Riverview Walmart when I went too.

I sort of figured that was going to happen again, since there is supposed to be a rise in the covid number's, plus with those riot's going on I heard that the trucker's are refusing to deliver to those cities.
