Arizona Chickens

Ok, here's the new Aloha rooster. He's still a bit nervous, but I managed to get a couple of pictures of him. Now, I have to figure out what to name him. No, not Dinner! Any suggestion's?

Since he is an Aloha, how about Maui, the mischievous god? My other favorite is Kawika (w pronounced as a V), also the title of a beautiful Hawaiian folk song. In case you are so inclined:

The dark gray andalusian was right up to the fenced off portion of the run, checking out one of the midnight majesty maran cockerels earlier. No pic of that, just two shots of the babies roosting in their coop and the big girls at the water cooler. The babies are about 4.5 weeks old. Note, "whitey" is getting some red back in her comb, so maybe they overheard how they might be integrated with the freezer instead of with the new babies! The andalusians have taken an egg-laying vacation since late september, when the first went into a pretty hard molt. Now two have been through a hard molt, the other two more diffuse molts. Hoping the hint of red in the comb means there'll be eggs again soon! My idea of "hard molt" is no tail feathers, and later no neck feathers, then nothing but pin feathers on the whole neck etc.

I don't want him to be mischievous, nor think that he's a God. :gigMaybe the name Manoa if there's a good meaning for the word?

The Cowgirl, my green egg laying NN hen layed egg's right through her molt.

I had some hatchery NNs (sorry) and they laid thru molt, and the clutch-mates of my andalusians picked right back up after molting, nothing like the extended break these girls are taking!

Maybe it depends on who bred them. Certain line of breed's can make a difference.
