Arizona Chickens

Very nice! My coop is 8x12 and I love that I can walk inside. I’d like to suggest simplicity in design on the inside. Easier to clean in general and that’s really nice when it’s hot as :rant outside.

So glad you posted... your coop is what made me decide to go more open air style rather than fully enclosed. 👍. I want partially enclosed though as my coop will be placed on a leveled area basically on top of a hill. There is nothing to stop the hellacious winds where I am.

Oh! Well I’m so happy you were inspired :) I’m looking forward to seeing pics of the inside when you’re done.

@igorsMistress my outdoor gauge said 35’, we’re in East Mesa. Yep that’s 🥶.
Hi everyone,
I want to add that these 5 chick that were hatched a few days ago are the quietest I have ever had, I keep checking to see if they are still alive, really. The last few were so loud I had to put them in the laundry room, which I hate to do. My only thoughts are the others could of been a little cold, I did adjust the lamp but it never helped. MAYBE the others were all cockerels?? I do know for sure that one of the Cochins is a hen, so not sure about that.. Other theory is they could be sick (worms?)with something or just loud.
one other correction, the black chick has dark legs, so she came from our Aurucana Eleanor, she is all black. Auto correct spell..
The last egg under Lorraine is a goner. Happy with these 5 and will be calling them girl’s until we have more signs. I do plan on selling 4-6 of our hens. The oldest is 1 1/2 they are the chicketas (spelling?) and a few others. I will do a separate post. Or message me.

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend.

Maybe everyone knows this...but I just found out on the latest Cog Hill Farm YT video...
InstaPot can make same day FRESH boiled eggs peel like a dream!
I don't have an instaPot yet but this is enough to make me splurge on one.
Excellent idea! You can do that with any multi-cooker/pressure cooker:
put the eggs in on the rack with about 1.5 cup water, put the eggs in, set for high pressure for 5 minutes (steam vent shut). cook 5 min, then keep it shut another 5, then open the steam vent and take out the eggs. It really does work!
There's another version for a vegetable/rice cooker, where you put the eggs in the vegetable basket with water in the pot and cook about 25 minutes, almost as good as the pressure cooker version.
I have a crock pot multi cooker because after 3 replacements my instant pot wouldn't safely (or at all) cook food in the slow cooker mode. I find my crock pot brand works on all the modes I've tried so far...

THANK you for the great info - I'll try the veg/rice cooker & maybe just steaming them on a stovetop pan. Then I might look for the crock pot multi cooker (I have places to get this much less expensive than InstaPot).
