Crowing
Thank you all for your help and concerns! We just lured him back into the coop with some mealworms, and he seems happy to be back

So glad this had a happy ending!Update! Our roo was foundwe didn’t hear any crows and searched in the alley with no luck, so we had pretty much accepted that a cat might’ve taken him. But just a few moments ago we pulled into the driveway and there he was just walking around the front lawn! His feathers look a bit ruffled but otherwise completely fine, now time to scold him for staying out past his bedtime

That’s a serious PITA from what I’ve read. The poop and such clogs up everything.I think down the line, if i put a self circulating/filtering pond in, I might get a couple.
It would need a quite large filtering as well as a separate bio-pool.. but its doable.. ive had a 55 gallon reef tank that I setup a separate 25 gallon aeration/bio filtering on..but outdoors w beneficial bacteria and aeration, it can be done. Just depends on what your ratio is for your pond vs filtering area. I would not have 20 ducks eitherThat’s a serious PITA from what I’ve read. The poop and such clogs up everything.
We tried something like that, a big pond and using a stock tank with media in it. The trouble is, you have to clean out the filter manually with a hose. Then we got a different filter. finally, just a stock tank that can be drained and the last thing was a kiddie pool that I could flip over to empty and clean daily. That was for 3-6 ducks. It would need a quite large filtering as well as a separate bio-pool.. but its doable.. ive had a 55 gallon reef tank that I setup a separate 25 gallon aeration/bio filtering on..but outdoors w beneficial bacteria and aeration, it can be done. Im thinking more like 2500 gallons with 1/4 of it acting as a bio tank (still open). Actually dug into a natural living pond, plantlife, etc. But of course lots and lots of aeration and yes occasionally hosing of the foot thick filter material as needed.. just like backwashing a swimming pool.We tried something like that, a big pond and using a stock tank with media in it. Definitely needs the aeration and bio filter. It kills me when people let that math business override their common sense! It would need a quite large filtering as well as a separate bio-pool.. but its doable.. ive had a 55 gallon reef tank that I setup a separate 25 gallon aeration/bio filtering on..but outdoors w beneficial bacteria and aeration, it can be done. Yes!! People forget.. you will have bacteria.. it can be aerobic (living and green and healthy) or anaerobic (stink, stank, stunk)!Definitely needs the aeration and bio filter. It kills me when people let that math business override their common sense!
We watched the parks dept in our city drain and dredge one of the ponds at one of the parks here. It was interesting to see all the works in the bottom of the pond. It’s set up for fishing and there are turtles and plenty of water fowl. I’d love to have a pond like that.
