Whew, it’s windy. Our girls are not liking the tarp blowing up above their run, but all the other parts are shade cloth & bird netting. I am hoping the umbrellas hold up.
The Arabian lilac is not big enough to keep them happy in the summer with dark shade, he hence the umbrellas. On the outer West side of the run there is sugar cane and castor bean that will provide shade spots for them. That grape vine is on the inside of the run, it will have a duck container for watering that grape. I have chicken wire around the base of that vine for protection & so far so good, they love grape leaves as a treat. I know most of you have seen this photo of the grapes on the East side. It really provides shade & I love growing edible treats for the flock.

Hopefully the wind will die down, and it will be nice out there again.
 
Well my arms are mush! I finished sanding the filler on my oak kitchen cabinets... then vacuumed, wiped down and mopped.. 😭 tomorrow i need to do some detail sanding, then shop vac and wipe up any dust before i start priming. The chickens are unhappy and really want to come out to play.. but they need to wait a little longer!

Anybody pickle eggs? Do you like them? I've never eaten them before so I don't know if I want to do it. I'm over run with eggs so might make them anyway just to find out how they are. They don't actually need refrigerated - if your comfortable with that.

For a while I lived next to a small country store. They always had a big jar of pickled hot sausage they sold. I never could face trying the sausage. After they sold all the sausage they would boil up eggs and put them in the left over pickling brine. I loved those hot sausage flavored pickled eggs. I have tried on an off to pickle eggs over the years. Some came out well other batches did not. I have never been able to replicate the flavor of those eggs I remember so fondly. There are lots of pickled egg recipes on the internet. If you don't heat can your pickled eggs. I would keep them in the fridge.
