Arizona Chickens

Update on the injured barred pulllet. I came out to egg song and other noises this morning and found her on top of the white corrugated plastic! Got her down without incident and she limped away. I put the plastic higher up so she can't roost on it any more. I gave her some metacam last night in her food, having found the poultry dose. Thoughts on her right thumb? Maybe it's higher up her leg. She wants to rejoin her flock and is eating well but obviously needs to be prevented from roosting!

I clicked on your pics that you posted there, and the scales on her leg's look a bit dry. Have you checked her leg's over for scaly leg mite's?

where would you look for this? I had found mine with a search engine, found their web site and contact info. Is there a more direct way to look up, for those up and coming chicken owners?
I believe most county assessors offices have the official recorded documents that pertain to each parcel. I regularly look up those docs for my job. I think the online record also lists whether it is in an HOA or at least have some link to the recorded docs (including CC&R I think).

If you go to Maricopa County Assessor (or search for any county in the US) you should find a map (might need to install a viewer) that you can zoom in on any property to see the records - the Assessor has records for assessing taxes and the County Recorder has records for legal property ownership including liens. Some counties have better systems than others sometimes it's all the same database - maybe a map or maybe you have to look up by APN (Assessor's Parcel Number).

The little chicks are getting so big! They’ve started jumping everywhere and testing out their wings. I am keeping an eye on one of the Rhode Island reds, she was the smallest out of the 6 but she doesn’t seem to have grown much in the past week compared to the other chicks. The chick with the crooked feet is doing fine, I do notice that when she stands on objects it bends a little but not nearly as much as before. I hope it will at worst just be an inconvenience and she’s able to adapt.

Sorry, don't know how I missed this. How is she doing? Is the limp going away?

More than likely it's a good thing that we were able to figure out how to help her cooked feet as soon as we were.

I couldn't see any but could need a magnifying glass. I ran to the dollar store and got permethrin for the roosts and dimethicone lice spray for her and possibly one other bird. I read a mother earth news article where someone used that, so I hope that works. I don't have enough free hands to hold a bird, an applicator, and a foot...

ETA: I didn't read the label, it's what I could get locally . it's natrum muriaticum HPUS 2x, some natural thing with a guarantee. Hope I don't have to make an extra stop tomorrow.

I just got a notice saying the chick warmer is at the post office. They sent it to my physical address, but it ended up there. Someone who works at the post office once told me that sometimes when they can't find the place, they will check in with the post office because there are so many of us around here who are hard to find and use PO boxes. Maybe that's it? But anyway, it arrived and is waiting to be picked up. Now for the exciting part, choosing the best and freshest eggs and incubating. :D
