Arizona Chickens

Last time I was in Tractor Supply, they had several brooders with lots of chicks in each. I was not tempted, they looked cold. And some were out of water. Some pasted butts, too.
They dont last an hour here... they told me i need to be in line 30 mins before the postal delivery arrives! But i like to take time to guess breed and sex, so just grabbing one doesn't work for me. But now my D'uccles don't want to share the room w the cochin... ugh!

I was just reading the tractor supply thread on here the other day, apparently they switched to a new brooder heating system and it’s causing lots of chicks to die since some stores aren’t using them correctly.

I seen that thing going on at the TSC that I went to for the past 2 years, so a third year of it wouldn't surprise me any.

yes they did. I was at the TSC the other day and a new shipment came. I told the girl they looked cold, but she said they just arrived and that they had lowered the heat plate. (it was still several inches above the chicks)

I think theres still a run on chicks, so the people looking the day before Easter will be out of luck! Thankfully!
Not sure of the rules/guidelines in AZ, but here in Land of Lincoln, at the larger feed store (like the one I go to),,, there is a 6 chick minimum purchase. This does put the One Easter Chick for grandson/granddaughter , at a disadvantage. Some of the smaller feed stores did not post such minimum purchase requirements. They also did not have very large numbers of chicks in stock.
