Arizona Chickens

Mahonri, here are 3 of the chicks that hatched from the first batch, couldn't get them to face the camera at the same time.

When I was a kid santa used to leave tracks. It was the coolest thing. My dad used to sprinkle baby powder over an old pair of shoes from the door to the tree and made it look like foot steps. We didn't figure it out until we were 5 or 6.

I got nailed in the hand the other day by a rooster. He drew blood. It bled quite a bit and had an unusual burning sensation, but I didn't give it much thought. I cleaned it up but it kept hurting and today I decided that I was going to re examine it because it was swelling still. So I opened it up with a razor (I know, I'm strange like that) and I pulled a hard piece of what looks like bone out. Its not my bone. I think that stupid rooster broke the tip of his beak in my skin! Amazingly, now it doesn't hurt anymore.

EEEWWWWW!!! I am so glad you thought to do that! Why are some roosters so mean like that? He deserved to lose his tip. We used to joke that our old, mean rooster was going to end up Carribean jerk chicken, since he had the jerk part down already. I hope you can heal up all the way now!

Yes, they do. And that is being kind. I can hear my rooster out crowing now at 2am. But he is so nice that I don't mind at all. When we had the super nasty rooster, I wanted to just stop putting him in the coop at night. I thought it would be nice to bless a coyote. My dh wouldn't let me...until HE got attacked. You know the saying, "Don't bite the hand that feeds you." Now you know why.

I hope that everyone had a wonderful Christmas. I didn't get any chicken related gifts, unless you count the frying pan.

Mostly Santa brought stuff for the 2 older boys, and I gave my husband a surprise orange tree. Which means that my big present from him is a hole to plant it in.
