Arizona Chickens

Hi all, does anyone have 1-2-3 extra Calm hens I can buy off you? They don't have to be laying anymore. I have one chicken left after unchecked predation while I was evacuated a few months ago. ( I wasn't able to take them, I didn't know about the fire until we were told to get out) I'd like to wait until next April when I get chicks but I don't want her by herself all winter. (not that she should be by herself at all)
I trust fellow bycers with the health of their birds much more than I'm seeing that's available here. I won't be available until October unfortunately.
Thanks
I have some for sale now but I'd not categorized them as especially calm...I have 4 Monorcas and 4 Polish for sale right now ...ALSO 6 sexlinks that could work for you... see listing below...

I hope you find the right birds to keep her company for the winter! IF you are interested in these let me know.

I got some rain here last night. I had let the dog back in the house before it started though, so there was no wet dog in the house.
0.7" here last night- everything is already green and looking forward to the next round of greenery coming up. My chicks need some new grass in their chicken tractor!

If you lived close to Safford I have three wyndottes and four speckled Sussex. You could have your choices for free.

Thank you very much for the offer :] but I've already accepted another offer. Also Safford is well over 3 hours away from me and I don't think my car could make that haul.

So I just started harvesting from the Lazy Garden (super LAZY... all I did was stick the seed starts in the ground where I saw the Lazy River overflowing... no weeding, no nothing).

I counted at least 6 good butternut squash and at least 3 Minnesota Midget melons that are NOT midgets. There are a few besides these that are overripe that I will throw to the chickens and I'm sure to uncover more when I start to pull back some of the overgrown weeds (some that I also feed to the chicken). I haven't even started with the sunflower harvest yet.

It look's like you have some of that pigweed growing in there also. I try to get rid of mine before it can drop any seed's to grow more.

Yes this will be the only NON LAZY part of the Lazy Garden...I have been just using some of these weeds as mulch but now need to pull it up before seeds are matured ...not too hard since the ground here is very wet. I can pull up by roots pretty easy.

My chickens are feasting on what I now know to be plains lubber grasshopper. The master gardener replied and gave me this link:

I killed a bunch in the front, where my chickens can't go, but there have been a few in the back also. the Sage got nibbled a bit and so far the lettuce is untouched.

With all the grasshoppers I'm not sure how much incentive my girls have, to continue learning to use the new grandpa's feeder. They're still stuck at stage zero, with a rock on the treadle and the flip-lid propped open to the widest stage.
