Now this is an interesting read:

How birds become male or female, and occasionally both

VERY Interesting... I've been researching a lot of biological/medical stuff lately and coming across the term chimera many times in relation to the biomedical industry. It's quite alarming to me for religious/ethical reasons. It does happen in nature and when someone was to be a twin but the twin didn't survive gestation or in bone marrow transplants - all these can have 2 different DNAs in one body.

If any of you like Garlic and want to grow your own, they say that fall is the time to plant it.

How did you know I was planning to plant garlic today?? :D

Here she is. Sorry about the straw in the back of my van. You can see some feather shafts on the tail. Maybe she's starting to molt, too? Do you think this intruder will impress them?

I don't know, but you might have to make sure that they don't try to roost and poop on it?

OK, the garlic is planted in pots on the porch. I don't want to put it outside because a few years ago I had a nice crop of Transylvanian garlic going outside and cattle broke through my fence and ate it, killing every last bulb. The cattle like to push their way through the fence and damage things and the owner gets away scot-free, and I had better hope his cattle are OK. It's a a free range state so the cattle owner has the rights, not me.
:(

I got more Transylvanian garlic off eBay a few weeks ago so I could try to start another batch.
