Arizona Chickens

Well the ants are out in force! They are coming onto my property from a vacant brushy lot behind my backyard. I threw amdro over the fence, put some out in stakes and chicken proof ant bait stations, and made a perimeter of garden poultry dust (.25% permethrin) around the chicken pens. So far so good.
The other day when we got those off and on sprinkles here I had to take care of those too. It seems like the rain brought them out, even if it wasn't much that we got. I buy the Gordon's Permethrin 10 in the 1 gallon concentrate size, and make up a batch of it as I need it.

I know I posted this before,, (not sure if here),, for my ant problems,, I use common borax laundry product. It works for the ant variety I have here.
I know there are multiple species of ants,, like fire ants,, Glad I don't have them here.
The borax becomes ineffective after it gets washed by rain,,, So I just reapply.
I try to avoid chemicals as much as possible. I know borax is also a chemical,,, but not known to be dangerous. :frow

I always have borax, I forgot about that. Of course I had the amdro, but I did buy more of the garden permethrin dust. I like that I don't have to mix it up and use it fresh like the liquid.

UPDATE: the ants are gone! The amdro must've killed the queen. Not a single ant on the block wall or the yard!

Just looked at the radar, storms are brewing. Batten down the hatches all!
I got at least .4 inches per the weather stations online, possibly more. Enabled me to pull weeds this morning. It soaked the permethrin dust into the ground, but I'll wait to reapply it. My babies' roost structure was nice and dry this morning, so their new setup is working out OK.
