Arizona Chickens

We seem to get literally 5 drops (I'm actually counting them) and I see it raining in the distance and many full and double rainbows.
It only sprinkled a few drop's here too. If I had not gotten up to go into the kitchen for another cup of coffee, I would have missed the drop's of rain on the window glass.

The humidity has been raised for the 2 duck egg's in the incubator, and my next batch of shipped Bielefelder hatching egg's from another state are on the way.

The AZ. water companies seem to have pipe's breaking all over the place. That's what happens when you poorly maintain your stuff.
Not just the water companies. The city of Phx especially has had an issue with old or undersized water and sewer systems for decades - we ran into issues on some of our building projects at work over the years. And the recent week+ long shutdown of the 60 in Mesa/Tempe due to water main breaking under the highway is just one more example of cities magnificent maintenance programs in action.

If you don't have at least a few days water stored for you and your animals - let all this be a wake up call.

I know what you mean. We do have water set aside on hand, both for us and the animal's. I reuse some of those distilled gallon jug's to refill with water for the animals. My hubby has to use those jug's for his cpap machine and I also use them for the incubator, so why not repurpose them for the animal's water? I set the one's for the animal's aside so they are stored separate. If the water main's break in the area and the water get's shut off, the animal's will still need drinking water especially in the heat that we are having now.

I reported a water leak to the city of Phoenix and it took them two weeks to get out there and do something about it. Two months later I called in a leak at the exact same location. So they don’t have people who do a very good job fixing anything. You’d think that would be important, considering we’re in the desert.

Baby pictures at 18 weeks today! Look real closely and you can almost see the white earlobes coming in on the white one. I think one is a barred rock and the other a cuckoo marans just by the pattern but their legs look the same to me. The black one is getting a wider pea comb and some rust color bleeding thru the neck. Finally, this is their best pose for a "group shot". They were out a few hours earlier this morning. They're getting more familiar and comfortable in the yard.

It look's like the one in IMG_1255 has a curled rooster tail on it.

Also note - city water systems can run to areas other than inside their own city limits. Example: City of Phx has water treatment plants in Mesa and Tolleson that I know of for sure, and probably others. Just because you don't live in a certain city doesn't mean their policies or procedures won't affect you. Cities and counties have water rights and water plants that they bought from other jurisdictions.

When you set aside water do you put chlorine bleach in it just when you use it, or when you first store it?
