Are there any auto-sexed breeds that are "heat tolerant"?
I've read Bielefelders are relatively heat tolerant. That's probably part of the reason BlueBaby chose them.

I'm still a noob but I have been giving my chicks purina starter, medicated. At this point only because I bought a ginormous bag and haven't run out yet. My babies do seem to get a lot of pasty butt - probably from the feed but I don't know for sure.

Another beginner question. I've read many opinions but I'd like more. Go-to chick feed? Reasons? Medicated or not? Thanks everyone!!
I like Purina, my chicks and ducks all did very well on it. Faster growth and much better feather growth than with other feeds I’ve tried. They were all fat, happy and fluffy babies. Unmedicated is my preference, it’s better to give them some dirt from your yard so they build natural immunity, or put them right in the coop from the start of possible. This is how it happens in nature. Keep Corid on hand in case of coccidiosis if you wish.

Look at Privett's site and go into some of the breeds' descriptions. They have some blue plymouth tint, and some other blue plymouth types, that if you look at it right, sound like they must have some andalusian in them, which is a good extreme-heat tolerant breed. These descriptions say that "the males are....." which is your clue. They also have a red breasted blue leghorn (or blue breasted red) that is auto sexing, that's generally a fairly heat tolerant breed.

Other birds that are more heat tolerant than average, are the sapphire gem (hoover's hatchery) and the midnight majesty marans (also hoover's), but the latter has feathered feet. I believe crele penedesenca are auto sexing if you can find them. Cream legbars are auto sexing, not sure about heat tolerance. The possible legbar I have is OK though.

Yes, the Cream Legbar's are auto-sexing, but the egg's aren't all the good of a size and the one's that I had before seemed to not live very long. The rooster I had attacked me, so he ended up at freezer camp.

I've only had 1 CCL and she only produced maybe a dozen medium sized blue eggs at most and then stopped thriving and got lethargic- died after I quarantined her for about a week. She was in Chino Valley up north so not in the worst heat.

I got her in the egg layer special from Murray McMurray in 2020 with other chicks.

EDIT--Now I have a Naked Neck CCL (and more) mix that is doing pretty well, either lays cream or green egg (not sure which). I hatched her from Roger and Cowgirl (from Bluebaby), so Bluebaby would know more on the mix of genetics she has. She has a crest and blueish laced feathering without the salmon breast coloring.

Yes, I know that story about those for sure. That's what happened to mine too.
