Bielefelder's first eggs (2)...:yesss:

I told you that they would start laying in Feb. How does the Bielefelder rooster that you got from me look now? Has he filled out more?
Yes, he looks great! I'll have to take some pics later today after it warms up. Even in the GH is was freezing the water (in single roo pen who doesn't have heated water bowl). I only do 15 min chores in morning when it's freezing!

@Happy Novogens is going to be getting another one of my boy's plus those 2 pullet's that I had held back from that same hatch that you got from me before. The boy is younger then the 2 pullet's and hatched from another batch, so he's not from the same place.

There’s a guy named Shadrach here on BYC that is truly a rooster whisperer. If you have questions about roosters he is absolutely the person that I would ask. He has had multiple flocks, he calls them tribes, on the property where he used to live. I have learned so much from him about chickens in general, but particularly roosters. He has a thread about ex battery hens now

Thanks for that link! I've been going through it a bit at a time... there's a lot!

So excited to see this. I thought I recalled that you got your Bielefelders from BlueBaby.

Looks like we'll all be chicken cousins! :gig

Today at 6 PM I will be starting day 5 of my hatch. Last night when I had to add more water, I went ahead and candled 5 of the egg's, and all 5 were starting to grow. I wasn't sure if I would be able to see into them this early or not, since the one's from Omega Hill's are a little bit more browner.

Yes even light brown or any color however light is surprisingly hard to candle compared to white eggs. I was amazed to find this out last time with Cowgirl's green eggs. Cowgirl has started to lay again - I'm saving some of hers to (possibly) hatch from again.

That's great! Is Roger still making his mark?

I don’t necessarily know that you’ll find a lot of info in that thread, his situation has changed a bit. But you know where he is now and he doesn’t have an issue with answering questions if you need help with a rooster. He isn’t a send that rooster to freezer camp kind of guy.

Good luck whatever you decide!
