I was out there working and just saw a hawk trying to catch a dove. The dove flew away safely. Maybe that's why hawks love chickens and other poultry that can't fly away from them as they would be easier to catch.

My next door neighbor asked me if they could borrow Hawkeye to breed with their Naked Neck hens that they got from me before. I told them that I will be setting eggs in my incubator on Saturday. They have those 2 Naked Neck Aloha hens that I had before.

I was following a thread a while ago where the incubator was a crock pot filled with water. The water was covered with a plastic sheet, and eggs were placed on top, then covered with a cloth, and then with the pot cover. Easy to do small batches that way. You would need a good thermometer to set up the correct temperature. You would also need a good dimmer switch to reduce the crock pot temperature to where it need to be. 100°F.
I currently use a similar setup to provide my chickens liquid water in their winter housing. When temps drop below freezing, inside the garage loft, the water does not freeze.
If you need more info on making a dimmer switch control, to control a crockpot temperature, I can help you out.
I have a Home setup when I make cheese in my Crockpot on kitchen counter.

Omgosh that sounds amazing ! I'd love to learn how to do that so i can use the crockpot cause i have two of them. Which I only use one at a time so if i can utilize one as an incubator that would be amazing.

Oh these are nice! I was looking at the ones on walmart.com but you know... nothing from them is all that reliable or well made so I was just panicking LOL. Yes they are cheap but you get what you pay for.. cheaply made items that wont last long and Miiighhhtt destroy what you're looking to achieve.

Hahaha my little boy hollars as soon as he goes outside and i don't go spend time with him like I do the others. He also wakes me up to tell me that it's time to let everyone out for food and water. He isn't old enough just yet to start breeding but he sure is old enough to tell me what he wants and when he wants it!

If you do get a Nurture Right 360 and decide never to hatch again - you could probably sell it and get most of your money back out of it - that would make it cheaper than most low end incubators (except the super cheapest).

I recommended the Nurture Right 360 incubator to a friend who wants to use it for homeschool lesson for her son. I told her if she got it and wanted to sell it I would buy it from her at a slight discount.

Yes it's mostly not freezing overnight anymore so I'm collecting eggs now to hatch. Cowgirl and Roger, Billy Bielefelder and Aloha (just for the heck of it, since he doesn't have other girls yet), and maybe Fancy Pants Bf/NN and Red Momma NN.

I'm putting some of the Bf Pullets with Billy Bf probably next month to see how that goes.
