Arizona Chickens

I just set 27 eggs in incubator--
12 Bielefelder from @BlueBaby
3 Bielefelder from my small flock
3 Barred Holland
the rest are NN/Beilefelder/, BH/NN or NN, and one NN/Aloha.
I also have a broody sitting on 8 eggs- NN/Bielefelder.

Any hatchers will live in the greenhouse over the winter - even broody if she wants to raise hers.
How exciting! Lot's of upcoming babies!

I just got done taking care of a black ant hill about an hour ago that was starting to get going out in Buster's yard. I had just let Buster back in the house already, so the Permethrin 10 mixture will have time to dry up before Buster goes back out at around 5 PM. That stuff work's on the red ant's too. You just follow the ant trail back to the hill, and then attack it with the Permethrin 10 mixture. Remember that one year that ant's ate some of my chick's in the grow out pen alive? Well, I get those little bugger's now before they can even get to my pen and coop now, and always have some of the Permethrin 10 on hand now. I buy the concentrate by the gallon, and then mix it up with water as I need it.

Howdy :frowmy Az friends,, Just wondering how prices on chicken feed are in your area.
I know there was a spike in prices,,, due to inflation, and supply chain issues.
My local feed store has decent prices on chicken feed. Just seen this sale in an email flyer they send me. BTW, it is not the feed I use,, because I use Alflock. But this is a new line they carry now, with 21% protein. They still carry the 16% minimum entry level as well.
I'm pretty sure Blain's Farm and fleet is just a Midwest Chain.

I just bought two 50 pound bags of layer crumbles from my local feed store yesterday and they totaled up to $45.00. So that's $22.50 a bag.

I'm paying around $23 for a 50lb bag of all flock pellets. I've been fermenting too.

I've tried the food grade DE for ants but it hasn't done much for me. I resorted to boiling water. Had to pour it a few times but it got rid of them.

One of my elevated garden beds has those tiny ants & I'm not sure what to do for that.

Sorry, outside of getting one of those anteater critters, I don't know what else to suggest for your garden bed.

Same here. It's running $22 for the basic protein feed and goes up from there for higher protein.

Update on Broody -now has 5 eggs, I candled and took away 2 clear eggs and she smooshed one (blood filled quitter). I figured that would happen to some which is why I left her 8 to begin with. At candling at least 2 have movement and others are hard to tell since they are medium brown colored eggs, and she was hurrying me trying to roll them back.
